“Best campsite in Norway!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Okay so I haven't been all over Norway, just to a few places, but I can't see any in Norway beating this place. It was right by a beautiful aqua glacial river. It was very convenient to glaciers and great hiking trails.

The campground itself was very well maintained. The restrooms and showers were very clean. They have a common area with a kitchen and lounge area. Both were very clean and looked new. The staff here was extremely friendly and helpful in suggesting hiking trails and glaciers to see.

The only downside was a lack of grocery store on the Sunday we arrived. We were able to eat at the hotel restaurant. Even when the store was open on Monday though, there wasn't a huge selection. I would recommend bring plenty of food if possible.

Astrid was just the nicest person you could ask for. She was very helpful, kind and accommodating. We had planned to camp, but ended up using cabins, which were both reasonably priced and had just the things we needed--beds, a table and chairs, wifi (albeit a bit slow, but you're camping, so you shouldn't need much wifi anyway! Jostedal Hotel just a few hundred feet away had a better connection), a fridge and a stove. The bathrooms aren't far from most of the cabins and are very clean. You need tokens to use the showers (for 4 minutes), but this wasn't a problem. Astrid also gave us information on the surrounding area, which was very helpful. The location is beautiful - we loved sitting on the bank of the river and hearing it rush by. Very close to Nigardsbreen, so an ideal location if you are planning to do that hike.

I would very much recommend a stay here and would love to go back myself some time!

I wished I stayed in Norway longer to really enjoyed the camp and the surrounding area. The cabin was so nice and it had a mini fridge!! The place was so clean and well maintained. Astrid (the owner) and her mother were so pleasant and made me feel so welcome. There is a small store walking distance to buy groceries and a hotel next door to buy breakfast/lunch/dinner. The camp has a nice community room with stoves and sinks for preparing food.

I was just impressed by the two nice ladies that run this camping, they have the place in perfect shape. Clean and tidy. They lend us a hair dryer and gave us a few other recommendations. Also gave us two free tokens for the showers.
I love the concept of family shower were you can for all the family and also go to the bathroom. From here you have a few minutes drive to the glaciers.
Best facilities I've seen so far.
Also compared to other campings I found it of really good price for the value.

I think the most amazing thing about this camping place is the location, theres a river right next to it and a horse stable on the other side. Not to mention being surrounded by beautiful mountains!
Its close to the glacier and we also did the rafting, right from the camping site.
The owner lady was super nice and welcoming,so we had nothing but great experiences at this place. Probably the nicest one from all the ones we visited on this trip.
