"En un lugar de La Mancha..."
The 7 windmills and the 10th century castle on the same hill are prime reasons tourists go to Spain. We drove from Madrid in the morning to tour pAranjuez Palace, had lunch then drove through Consuegra up the hill an hour before sundown. We got the panoramic view then, when the sun went down, we saw the windmills all lit up and we could see them shine like stars in the sky as we drove back down and onward to Madrid.

“Picture Perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

I drove here from Toledo and it was very cool. I'm not sure it would be enough to see on a tour itself unless you can see some of the old villages along the way. The windmills are certainly worth seeing!

“Don Quixote”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

Absolutely loved it and the connection with don Quixote just walk around and let your imagination flow .Think what would have been happening all those years ago. When we went we were 2of 6 people there we just looked and wandered although as we were leaving a bus of Japanese turned maybe not so peaceful then. These windmills one often sees in photos or pictures for advertising etc as they are very atmospheric.

“Very Interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

We visited two windmills. One right at the top past the castle which charged 2 Euros but this included a drink. It had been restored and we were able to see how an original windmill would have looked. The second one was included in the entrance fee to the castle and was restored and showed a clear video of the mill working.

“Consuegra Windmills”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

The primary attraction of this quaint little community southeast of Toledo is the 12 windmills up on the hill. We arrived there by rental car. There was one other car there and we were, for all intents and purposes, alone in this serenely beautiful, but arid setting. The wind was blowing (it should be if one is going to have windmills) and the tall hill on which the windmills are set is surrounded by producing farm land. It's like being on top of the world, by yourself, and looking down on creation. It was a beautiful experience and I recommend it for its history, significance to Don Quixote, and the gentle peacefulness.
