Reviewed 27 April 2014

Just left the Bohol region after staying at the Darunday Manor Hotel for the third time.
As always the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, it's really what you need after a long journey. The rooms are basic and clean with the local BQ mall just 2 minutes walk from the front of the hotel. A 5 minute tricycle ride in the opposite direction takes you to the more modern Island Shopping Mall.
Quite a lot of building and road damage from the October 2013 earthquake is there to be seen, unfortunately funds are limited and quite a lot of temporary repairs are evident but the typical "life goes on.." attitude of the locals prevails.
A lovely part of the world.!

Booking comes with a free transfer from & to airport or seaport. We were picked-up from the airport on time and by a very friendly & polite hotel reoresentative on a very comfortable SUV. No problem at all on check-in. Hotel is located in the City proper so no problem going around the city. Plenty of tricycle around which is the most common mode of transportation in Tagbilaran City.

The rooms we got are next to one another. We think the rooms need some refurbishing or even just repainting to make it look fresh again. The toilets are clean but need repainting as well specially the ceilings.

Bookings come with breakfast as well as per their website. When the cook learned that the "Bangus" (milkfish) was not boneless as stated in their menu, she quickly offered an alternative kind of fish she'll cook for us. She asked & cooked what we wanted to have for breakfast the following day.

The Bohol countryside tour that we paid for was arranged by & affiliated with the hotel. We did not encounter any problem at all during the tour. The driver of the van tried his best to answer our questions with regards to towns, landmarks, local customs, etc. as we gear towards our destinations.

Room Tip: As there is no lift.Try to get a room on the 1st floor specially those who have problems climbing st...

We asked for a room not facing the street and were told there is no such room in the price category. So we got the street facing room and it was really noisy indeed. Unfortunately, messy as well. The floor was greasy, bathroom and especially the shower area was rotten. The aircon was very noisy. The breakfast would be good if you are starving (providing that you are European). On the other hand, the front desk staff was always very helpful and the hotel service was free of charge. The place is conveniently located 10mins tricycle ride from the bus station and the same distance and time to the pier. The accommodation is overpriced comparing to what you get.

This review is long overdue. My cousins and I stayed here last July 2013. The place is located in the very heart of Tagbilaran. Everything (but the beach and airport of course) can be reached by walking. Even the famous jo's chicken inato. It's even near the church, banks, grocery, fast foods and mall. Our only problem was the aircon of one of the rooms we got isn't working well, working yes, but not cold enough. However, since we're all tired from our everyday activities, we didn't bother telling them. The complimentary breakfast was ok, nothing special but not bad as well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. If I will return to Tagbilaran, I will definitely stay here again.
