There are 3 train stations that are within walking distances, its means the ease to access other parts of Tokyo. Just 10 minutes walk to the Tokyo University .The room is small but quite comfortable for us, with free internet access as well.you can rent a laptop here.

We stayed at Hongo-forest Hotel from November 19 to November 23 during the IEC meeting. This hotel is very quiet and cdomfortable to stay equiped with vending machine at 2nd floor. And the restaurant also clean, delicious and resonable price.

Espicially I thanks to Mr. SASAKI, works at reception desk, help us to find lost mobile phone which we had dropped at taxi. He did all his effort to to find it with so many phone call to taxi company, because we did not have any information of the name of taxi company due to our mistake that we did not received any receipt form taxi driver.

Anyway we could find and returend lost mobile phone before we returned my country. In this experience, we again reconized this hotel and contury of Japan is always very kind and safe.

Thanks again Mr. SASAKI and Foresthongo Hotel.

I stayed at Forest Hongo with my wife and in-laws in early September of 2013.

Pros
- Short walk to Tokyo University
- Spacious rooms and bathrooms (by US standards)
- Good quality rooms (though a bit dated stylistically)
- Very helpful staff
- Paid ~ $135 per night
- Very quiet

Cons
- 15 min walk to subway line
- Cab rides to major tourist destinations in Tokyo can be expensive

Room Tip: The handicapped-accessible rooms have surprisingly large bathrooms.

This is a well managed hotel, clean and efficient, and if you don't expect a huge room and/or bathroom (seeing it as it's Japan and space is always limited), you'll probably be happy with your choice. Two things that detract from the overall good experience: the WiFi is only available if you ask for a router at the front desk. It takes a minute to set up and works great... if you are lucky to get one, it would seem demand at times is bigger than availability. Second, it's a bit of a walk to major public transportation. On the upside, the location is extremely quiet and you'll sure appreciate it if traveling from afar and fighting that jet lag. Dining options abound around the hotel and the super convenient "Family Mart" is right there around the corner. In summary, I'm not disappointed.

I stayed at the Forest Hongo Hotel when I attended a conference at the Tokyo Universityseveral days back. I was very happy with the quietness and calmness of the neighbourhood. The room was very clean and the amenities were just awesome. There are many restaurants nearby.

Stayed at Forest Hongo for a meeting at the University of Tokyo. It is located one block from the main gate. The price seemed reasonable in comparison to some of the other hotels around. A standard room was about $150 US. This included a nice buffet breakfast that had traditional Japanese items, pastries, eggs, sausage, and bacon. The hotel has a French restaurant that served lunch and dinner, but I never tried it and it seemed expensive. There are many inexpensive small restaurants nearby to eat at. Limited English is spoken by the staff, but they were very accommodating. The standard room is small, but had all of the necessary amenities.

This is a Japanese business hotel, not an international luxury hotel. Functional, efficient, with rooms that are slighter larger and better furnished than a typical business hotel.

Location: On a quiet neighborhood side street very close to the Main Gate of Hongo campus. Five block walk to subway stations on both of the Tokyo subway systems. Great location if you have business in this area. Not ideal for tourists or business people with work downtown.
Advice: If coming from Narita, take the Kesei Skyliner to Ueno Station. Use a taxi from Ueno to the hotel instead of subway. A taxi from Kesei Ueno to the hotel is only a 1000 yen and the subway is not fun with luggage after a long flight. .

Room: Large (by Tokyo standards) well furnished room. Comfortable bed, TV with limited international channels, desk, sitting chair, hot pot with teas. Ordinary Japanese bath with deep tub and Toto. My room had frosted windows. Probably next to a wall. Free internet access via ethernet cable.
Tip: If you crave early morning coffee, bring instant with you.
Tip: An extension cord with multiple plug outlets is useful.
Tip: If you like to lounge on the bed while using laptop, bring a long ethernet cable.

Service: Desk staff were helpful, within constraints of limited English. Accommodated small requests like need for umbrella, maps etc. Bill was prepared and credit card already charged at checkout.
Tip: If you settle your bill in cash, make arrangements in advance. I had been reimbursed for expenses by my sponsor in 10,000 yen notes during the visit, and would have preferred to use the cash to pay for the hotel bill. I lost on exchange commissions on my credit card charge (dollars to yen) and on the cash (yen to dollars).
