“Modern and convenient!”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

A nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was small (most are in Japan) but very nice and modern. Rainfall shower is very nice! The hotel is close to Ginza and Yurakucho stations and it's right next to the big shopping district in Ginza.

They let us check out late (1 pm) for free as we had a late night flight. A really positive experience overall!

Room Tip: Rooms facing trains behind hotel have a bit of noise.

Remm is a chain of Japanese hotels that turns minimalism into something desirable. I've stayed in Remm Akihabara a few months ago, this time I tried Remm Hibiya (close to Ginza).

In both cases the rooms are extremely small. To give an impression: you can barely walk around the bed. There is no closet space, so once you park your bags you can no longer walk around the bed. There's a little table with a massage chair and there's a little desk with a seat. To use the desk, you have to move the massage chair against the table. To use the massage chair you have to push it against the desk. And since there's no closet space, the room will quickly clutter up with personal possessions.

The bathroom is minimal as well. The average European person can just make all the tight turns to get into the shower (there's no bath, that would take up too much space). The shower itself is a ceiling mounted rain shower, so no bending over backwards to fit under a low mounted shower head in this hotel!

Because of the high class materials and chique colours this minimalist room looks great! And all creature comforts are taken care of. As said before: there's a massage chair, a desk, wifi and cable Internet (both for free), a kettle, a frig, a big screen television, a safe and air conditioning. By making optimum use of every square centimetre it all fits!

There is no room service, but there is an independently operated restaurant in the lobby. Also there are vending machines for drinks in the hallways. If you need any amenities there's a vending machine for that too!

My main complaint is the strict check-in and check-out time. If you arrive early you have to wait in the hallway, even though your room might very well be ready. Checking out late is possible if you pay for the room by the hour. Pretty pathetic by European standards, but not uncommon in Japan. Some clerks at the check-in desk barely spoke English, causing some minor confusion.

In conclusion: staying at the Remm hotels feels like driving a Smart car; by making everything smaller it creates a whole new way of being cool. The formula obviously works, because both Remm hotels in Tokyo are almost always fully booked!

This was an interesting place to stay. The location is great - easy access to Ginza and Tokyo Station with a web of many additional and useful metro/train lines. Some of the best places to eat are within a walking distance. The room itself was quite compact, so I wouldn't recommend it to someone with a lot of luggage. The service is minimal but does all the basics well - check-in/out, luggage storage, and daily cleaning were done without any problems. The amenities are quite good for a business hotel and I enjoyed using Muji products. The massage chair in the room was a surprising treat I enjoyed a lot. I didn't take the breakfast option, which would've taken place at the little Muji cafe on the lobby level. Overall, very convenient for work or pleasure, clean and comfortable but do bear in mind that it is compact, but this kind of size issue is not really an issue in Japan anyway.

The remm Hibiya is one of the few business style hotels located in Tokyo's posh Hibiya/Ginza district. While its location is excellent for people who want to explore Tokyo's most glitzy shopping areas, it is best suited for short stays, business trips or if you are a theater fan.

This hotel has 3 theaters in its immediate vicinity - Theater Creation at the basement of the same building, the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater and the Nissay Theater in the two buildings across the small street. So expect to see many guests (mostly women) in the hotel or in the Muji restaurant/lobby area just before and after a performance. The remm Hibiya is also catered to these guests, and as such only offers minimal services.

The rooms in this hotel are extremely well decorated, offering modern furnishings and a really comfy massage chair. The rooms are small by Western standards, but the well places furniture makes for a nice cosy space. I especially like the semi-double beds offered at the remm Hibiya, which should fit even a taller or bigger person comfortably.

Everything is run business-hotel style at this place, so guests simply check in and go about their own activities. The hotel does not offer concierge services or room service, and staff at the front desk only deal with check-in and check-out. If you speak a little Japanese, do not need help getting around the city, and basically are more or less independent as a tourist/traveller in Tokyo, the remm Hibiya is an excellent place to stay. For theater-goers, this hotel is at a location better than any other.

Not a bad economical choice but if you want to ask the hotel to make a reservation for you or to make a call for you - you can forget it. They outright say, I'm sorry, we are not a guest services hotel. Are you kidding me?

Come here if you want minimal service and a place to stay but I won't be staying here again.

Got a terrific rate for a single room ($125 plus taxes on Agoda) in early December, 2013. I asked to change rooms due to serious noise from nearby rail tracks and staff thankfully assigned me a room facing away from the tracks. I then slept well, although trains could still be heard if I didn't use ear plugs.

Internet wifi is free and works well. TV is a challenge if you want to watch an English language news program.

The remm Hotel is across a narrow street from the Imperial Hotel, providing a cost effective and comfortable alternative if you need to attend meetings/conferences at the Imperial Hotel.

Room Tip: Watch out for railway noise - ask for room facing away from railway tracks.

I stayed three nights in this modern and stylish hotel. The hotel seems to be geared more towards japanese clientele, as most of the information was in Japanese and the very helpful staff spoke The room was very small and compact but had everything. The bed was comfortable and the lighting of the room clever. The hotel is very close to the rail tracks so noise is inevitable. There are no services except a breakfast place, which doubles as an all day coffee shop. But within walking distance there are literally hundreds of restaurants and drinking holes to choose from. Breakfast room was airy and you can choose between a good japanese or a mediocre western breakfast. Tip: you can also use a breakfast coupon to get hot and cold snacks during the day. A minus; the room was too small to do my exercise routine. Buses to and from Narita and Haneda airports leave from Imperial Hotel, just across the street.
