“Serious competitor in Tokyo”
Reviewed 9 September 2012

Its a new hotel and thats why i picked it.

Location is prime right across the Imperial Palace Tokyo, near to Ginza, but not walking distance.

First i stepped into this beautiful hotel, i saw that every guest coming will be assisted directly with one staff. Really one staff to each guest. And it was busy at the lobby.
The check in was fast, and they kept our luggage in the room already (we delivered our luggage from Kyoto with a the luggage delivery service).

The room was beautifully appointed. The staffs are really professional, they greeted you with your name. Some staffs look really new but they tried their best to be as professional as they can.

They have Evian Spa.
But the bad thing is: you have to pay to use the swimming pool even though you are staying there.
The swimming pool is very nice, it has a beautiful view. Too bad we didnt try the spa treatment.

I found this hotel really good in every aspect, a serious competitor in the market.

Brand new hotel, with all 5-star amenities.

My room was huge, with an elegant design, a mix of traditional japanese and modern. Bathroom was amazing, surrounded by crystal walls.

As for the negative sides, location is great for business, but it lacks the atmosphere that other areas, like Roppongi, have. So, for dinner you will have to take a taxi or the metro to explore the areas where nice restaurants are located.

Also, I found very annoying that they made us pay 50% of the room rate for an early checkin (at 11.00 a.m.). I understand paying for the early checkin when you ask for it in advance (since thay have to guarantee that your room is free), but when you arrive and the room happens to be free, this means that there is no extra-cost for the hotel... so why making you pay?

In this kind of property, I would have expected a higher attention to the client!

Newly reopened and extremely well done. A beautiful property and wonderful staff. Located across the street from the Imperial Palace with great views. The room was large and well appointed with a "spa like" bathroom complete with amazing shower and great water pressure! The only downside - and very minor- was breakfast buffet lacked variety of more "western" style fare. Overall - a true 5 star experience.

Great location being separated to the Imperial Palace only by the water. Marunochi area is a bonus being great for shopping and eating. JR train station and the main Tokyo station isn't far away. Great renovation. Nice and modern feel but definitely not cold. Homey is the perfect description. Reasonably priced in my opinion. I love to eat, relax and read a book by the outdoor seating area overlooking the Palace. The lounge is perfect for sipping tea or drinking beer. I also enjoyed eating breakfast at their lobby outlet. Ate there for two straight days trying both the traditional Japanese breakfast and the usual continental buffet. Rooms are big and new. Great view i must say. Staff are very polite. I like this hotel better than the other five star hotels in the area.

The Palace Hotel is a wonderful hotel; newly reopened after extensive renovation. Adjacent to the Imperial Palace grounds and East Garden, it is somewhat removed from the crowded action of Tokyo and more geared to business clientele rather than tourism. However, the Otemachi subway is a block away and the Tokyo station is an easy walk (or 710 yen for a taxi). A line of taxis is always waiting. The Marunouchi Building is a short walk offering dining and shopping, and the Ginza is just minutes away. Citibank is down the street for banking needs.

The hotel interior is bright with a contemporary edge and designed very well with a large lobby- front desk, concierge, and bellman on one side and a spacious lounge and restaurant with terrace dining overlooking a moat on the other. The atmosphere is relaxed and not stuffy. The lobby restaurant and lounge menus offer a nice selection and the cocktails are very well made. A restaurant in the park is also open for lunch, but we did not eat there so i can not speak for the menu.

An escalator from the lobby leads down to an small arcade with small specialized shops, a 7/11, a few Japanese restaurants, and a Irish pub which offers a relaxed small pub atmosphere with Quiness and English pub fare (although not smoke free). The hotel's formal restaurants I feel need improvement. They were rather pricey as expected but I was just not that impressed with my dinner. Other close dining options (of all prices) were a good alternative. The hotel breakfast, however, was very good either ala carte or buffet with a Western selection for a full English breakfast of sausage, bacon, grilled tomato, sauteed mushrooms, potatoes, and eggs made to order; stations for bread, danish and fresh toast; fresh juices, milk, and cereals; another for a charcuterie of cheese, meats, and pickles.

The rooms have very comfortable beds, and a nice design with the standard large TV on the wall, a room bar, and large closets. The windows are large and designed to have good views with automatic room darkening drapes. The bathrooms are very large and luxurious with an open glass bath, separate shower, sink with a mirror TV, and separate toilet with heated bidet features. Blinds provide privacy for the bath.

Perhaps the Palace's best feature, however, is the service provided by the staff. Room service is just minutes away. Everyone treats you like royalty, and a walk through the lobby will never go without someone asking at least once if you need anything. Doormen always take care to explain to the taxi driver exactly were you are going. The concierge is extremely knowledgable and helpful, came to say goodby with bottles of water as we checked out and accompanied us to our taxi. There is no question we would return.

Excellent Location and luxurious rooms. Very helpful staff. You can also do Gym here. Gym is equipped with latest machines. You can use swimming pool here. But you have to pay some charges for that. Ginza is not so far from here. You can do a limited breakfast because of its menu. I strongly recommend it.
