Arrived after overnight flight about 11am. Room ready. But cannot check until 2pm unless I pay for the extra night! So in order to get to meetings etc having had a shower I pay the extra night - not that the room was serviced again until the next day. So basically the room is ready and I pay double in order to have shower but not have towels changed etc. Just as well the room rate was half that of a similar named hotel about 10 minutes walk away - which incidentally I stayed at last time in Tokyo and it was fantastic.
Room very early 80s with beige bath and tiles and shower with a plastic hose. But clean etc . Room is for single occupancy but with two single beds in room . Arrggghhh , what is the point !
Breakfast okay. Staff nice particularly the head porter who is very nice and knowledgeable as to walking distances etc. Takes an age to check out because the same receptionist who asked me to pay for the extra night can't work out why my bill is so much for only one night's stay.
Stay here if you want no frills, functional and a reasonable cost - but don't arrive early and don't expect anyone to show any flexibility or initiative.

This hotel reminds me of my youth in the 70s as it clearly belongs to that time era. I was expecting Burt Reynolds to drive up in a Trans Am. Again this was company arranged accomodation for logistics purposes. It is not the greatest location for night life as it is surrounded by businesses and tend to die at night. On the other hand you are a couple of stations away from Akihabara and even a 30 minute walk would get you there.

The lobby had free wi-fi but the room only had a wired connection. I asked at the reception but they did not provide a wi-fi gadget so my tablet and smartphone are dumb unless I take them to the lobby. A small device is availabe from Akihabara for about 20 US dollars that would solve the problem so I wonder why the hotel does not thik of this solution unless their bandwidth is restricted but I am only guessing here.

The lobby is HUGE by Japanese standards yet the chairs are not very comfortable. It seems to be used for weddings as there is a bridal gown displayed in a prominent corner by the escelators.

The rooms are also huge and are comparable to what one would get in North America for example except it is old decoration with the most modern device being the LED TV which is tiny for such a room and hotel class.

There is a minibar with very limited selection of drinks but I did not bother checking out the prices.

This morning I wanted to try the breakfast buffet, which is not included and is an additional 2300 Yen. However, there was a long queu waiting to be seated in the rather small breakfast room. This was a shame as it seemed cozy with a nice view of an artificial waterfall. Rather than wait I hopped outside to a cafe and got a sandwich, a desert and a capucino for about a thousand Yen. This could explain the demand for an all you can eat buffet for a bit more than twice that amount.

The toilet seat has the standard japanese heated seat and bidet gadget. However, it is cleary an afterthought as the controler is at awkward position and one has to be a bit flexble to reach the buttons.

The bathroom is clearn with a big collection of towels.

Finally the most important thing in a hotel room, the bed. An amazing mattress and great pillows but the covers were old so athough I was cold I used a thin sheet but raised the temperature which is doable form a controller next to the bed.

All in all an average hotel but again I had no choice other than be here so I cannot compare with other locations in the area or elsewhere in Tokyo

The Grand Palace in Tokyo is a very nice hotel with a great staff who is always kind, courteous, and willing to help. The hotel has great restaurants, the rooms are clean, and spacious compared to other hotels in Japan. It is also located in a very nice area with places to see.

Stayed here for 3 nights during a recent business trip to Tokyo. The hotel is very close to the subway with just being less than a 3- minute walk. Hotel is slightly dated in decoration but it was made up by the exceptional staff members. Rooms are very clean and quite sizable compared to other hotels in Tokyo. There are also some nice restaurants and convenient stores nearby. Highly recommended to stay here if you are looking for an affordable place with great services.

Not one english tv language channel. Cnnbis even dubbed! Many options but 90% blank screens. Rubbish keys. 70's lights. Restaurants close at 9!!!! Apart from the pretentious lobby restaurant Cattleya. Mini bar pricesv ridiculous 3dollars for 500mls of vittel water. Hotel is tired and needs a total overhaul.

Stayed with my wife. Service was great, room was immaculate and well set up, with wonderful bathrooms. The need to switch elevators when coming from parking to the room was a little inconvenient and lacks privacy, however overall a great experience.

We stayed at Grand Hotel for a total of 8 days and we were very satisfied with the size of the room for three people. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were able to communicate without any problem. The location was great because it was so close to the trains and subways. The room was clean and the extra toiletries was a nice touch. Highly recommend.
