The hotel is huge and always very busy with big groups and events. However the staff is great and always trying to help. The rooms are spacious and clean. The area is quiet and for a tourist there is only the Palace and the baseball field around but there is a metro station few blocks away.

This was one of better hotels in Tokyo I stayed at. Very nice and quiet area, near the park but the hotle itself needs to be updated. Above everage rooms in size, modern common areas, reception staff a little too cold and not really helpful, bathroom and room design dated and the TV programmes in Japanese only. Once in the room in the evening you cannot even watch the TV.
Before our arrival we thought this was a better more modern property but were a little disappointed once we got settled.
Considering the quality/price than it is just a nice 3* older hotel.
What it bothers me is that all hotels in Tokyo are well overpriced and the rooms very very small. In general all the staff I dealt with in different hotels in Tokyo are distant and give you an impression you are not welcome. They look on you and treat you differenly as their own ethnicity...
Now back to this hotel in question: If you do not want to spend over 150€ a night and are happy with basic clean rooms,
than this is the place for you!
I will try another place next time!

We stayed in the GP for the last week of our stay in Japan and were generally pleased with the hotel's location (about 100m to Kudanshita on the Metro) and with a useful Lawson and coffee shop just opposite. There was some confusion over the advertised price for the rollaway bed though, as we had booked online and been told it would be ¥2300 and were quoted double that at reception. Having seen the standard twin room though we decided we could do without the extra bed, as the twins were fairly wide.

The hotel staff were efficient and generally friendly, although we have to single put one bellhop for a special mention. S.Umahara was a particularly sunny and friendly young lady who made us feel instantly at home and cared for, a real credit to her employers and worthy of real praise for showing the warm personable side of the Japanese people we really value.

Generally a very nice hotel, convenient, clean and a good size as well as well positioned within the city for sightseeing. Our only real gripe was the lack of basic services which we felt had been overlooked on the basis of providing a "luxury" hotel experience that wasn't really achievable. The addition of an ice machine on the floors, and some simple vending machines would be most welcome and would make guests feel a little less like prisoners in their rooms! Even the Hilton has them GP, it's not like you'd be slumming it!

We arrived here for our last 3 nights in Japan and were very pleased. The rooms are very roomy and the breakfast excellent. The subway system is very close, as are a Buddhist temple (left then left up a diagonal road) and Shinto shrine (right then right at the main road). There are also plenty of European restaurants along the diagonal road left of the hotel.

Room Tip: There were members of our group who had rooms at the back of the hotel and if you are high enough up (they were on the 15th floor) you can see Mount Fuji. This can also be seen from the bar on the top floor.

We spent the three final nights of our stay in Japan at the Grand Palace Hotel and we were very pleased, a big and comfortable spacious room with fast Internet connection, clean and nice bathroom, very well located and superb breakfast. There is a restaurant called Jonathan's just opposite the building if you don't fancy Japanese food. Totally recommended.
