Mitsui Garden Hotel Ginza Premier
Ranked #5 of 97 Hotels / Ryokan in Chuo
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 27 December 2013

We stayed 4 nights at the Mitsui Garden Ginza and loved it. The room was small and had a bit too little storage space for our 2 suitcases full of clothes for a 10 days vacation, but the bed was comfy, the bathroom had a window that frosted and unfrosted so you could shower with a view, and then there was the view...just the view was worth more than the price of the room! Our room faced the fish market and the sea, I didn't tire of looking out the window while we were there.

Service was efficient, courteous and non very proficient in English, as experienced elsewhere in Japan. We didn't eat at the restaurant, where we found that breakfast was a bit expensive for what we usually eat, but we enjoyed a drink in the bar.

The location is excellent, close to everything but still very quiet. We took the metro wherever we couldn't walk, but managed to get quite a few kms out of our feet. The last morning my husband walked to the fish market. We had planned to go to the tuna auction but chickened out at the last minute, couldn't quite figure out if it was better not to go to bed or to wake up extremely early.

Overall, for the price and location, you cannot really do better in Tokyo. Will definitely consider this hotel again when we go back to Tokyo!

Firstly it's located at Ginza somehow similar to fifth avenue in NY. So if you are into branded & luxury items you are at the perfect location and during Sunday the main roads in Ginza is closed and converted into pedestrians walkways and viola - shop till you drop....

Secondly it's being sandwiched between the Ginza subway line by two subway station Ginza Station (7 mins by foot) & Shimbashi Station (5 mins by foot) which makes it very easy and convenient to get to anywhere in Tokyo. The main Tokyo station is like a stop away from Ginza Station. So basically you are accessible to anywhere - even the bullet trains to the rest of the cities in Japan.

Thirdly, the rooms are small but then again so is every other hotel in Japan. Nice deco...warm and cozy. Amazing view towards the skyline of Tokyo with view towards the Tsukiji Market and the fishing port. Comfortable bedding and generously sized hot tub for the cold season...

Lastly, if there is one dislike - it's the breakfast. Stayed here for 8 days & 7 nights and after having it for the first day I skipped the rest. The choices are very limited with a good portion of it being a salad bar, pasta and the pastry corner. Skip the breakfast you are better off with quick bites from Lawson or any 24 hours convenient stores nearby the hotel. Having said that, the quality of the food prepared is good but to have it continuously for a couple days with such limited choices made it really tough!

Price point it's definitely on the high side but overall a comfortable and wonderful stay other than the disappointing breakfast.

(+) This hotel has a very good situation in Tokyo. Situated in the middle of Ginza, between the lively Shimbashi and the famous fish market (10 minutes on foot), at 4 minutes to a Subway station and 6 to a Yanamote Station. Rooms are quite small but very confortable and the Tokyo view from the 20th floor is very beautiful.(++) It's very easy to find this hotel when you have just arrived from the airport (-) Hotel services are limited

Previous reviewers said exactly what expected us: A very nice hotel ! We can recommend it ! On clear days you can see Mt. Fuji from the lobby on the 16 floor. Shimbashi Station is nearby, Ginza even nearer. There are Starbucks and convienience stores nearby.

Room Tip: Tokyo Bay + Tsukiji Fish Market or Ginza side.

Front desks people didn't seem very friendly. But they helped us with storing our luggage until check in time. Free mini bar was super awesome. Can't beat the view from the bathtub with a glass of wine in your hand (which was included in the mini bar). Love the wonderful smell as you get off the elevator. Will definitely stay here again for out next Tokyo trip.

This was a really nice hotel. We chose it because it was convenient, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was good. Working 36 hours without a break meant that I didn't get to enjoy the place to the full but if I ever get back there for a holiday I'll be staying there.

Location: Excellent location at the Ginza crossroads within walking distance to the main shops and various train stations. Convenience afforded by the 24h 'amusement bargain' shop just across the road, where you can literally buy anything you need.

Food: Not much available, just a small restaurant and bar that grants excellent city views and has live music. You won't be spending much time in your hotel while in Tokyo anyway.

Rooms & Price: It's a steal at US$150/night. Despite their tiny (typical Tokyo) size, the rooms are very well equipped. Even the smallest rooms come with bath tubs. The room's thoughtful design shows that the hotel clearly has its guests in mind -you have everything you need, and the room has enough space for maneuvering even after 2 big luggages.

Service: Staff are excellent. Knowledgeable and helpful.
