We only paid 5000 yen a night (room only) for this hotel, which for a Friday & Saturday night in Tokyo is amazing! It only has 2 stars I presume because it doesn't have bar/restaurant/spa etc. However, for us this didn't matter. All we need is a clean, well furnished room and free internet, which this hotel provides (in-room wired internet, or free wifi in the lobby).

My only criticisms are the size of the room. At the start of our holiday we stayed at the Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku, in one of their small double rooms, which was far larger than this room we have in Horidrome. The bed is very small, and is difficult to sleep in with two people. The room is also smaller, and there are very few places to store your bags. Fine if you are here for a couple of nights, but this isn't for longer stays.

Maybe I was also spoilt by the location of the Sunroute Plaza in Shinjuku, but the Horidrome doesn't feel quite so well connected. However, it is close to Tokyo station (20 min walk).

We stayed 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room, while typically small,(we opted for the small bed) had everything we needed, including bathrobes and tea making kit. There is also tea and coffee in the reception area in the morning. I also took advantage of the in room internet. The reception staff proved their worth early as we got lost at the nearby JR station and needed directions. A friendly local kindly escorted us to the door. It is difficult to find but that is half the fun sometimes.

Very nice little hotel. The location is ok, but the street very confusing around. A map is very useful to find this hotel. Locals don't really know it. Free Wi-Fi, great service at front desk, very helpful. Very close by a few metro line, and you can get to Tsukiji Market pretty fast. The room are small, if you are 2, it's tiny. Clean & convenient. The price is good for the quality of hotel.

Alright the room was small and there was no option for a bigger room. But we took comfort that it was very cozy and well priced. Front desk was superb. Very courteous and they all spoke English. Very clean and even though we had problems putting our luggage, we decided to go back to this hotel on our next visit.

Hotel is near to a lot of 24H restaurants, thus for those who don't sleep early and wish for some bites at night, this hotel is superbly recommended.

Overall, our experience at this hotel was very good. We are a couple (husband is 6'3, built, I'm 5'3, petite). We stayed there for 9 nights and had a blast!

The pros:
-Free wifi in the lobby: If you're an iphone/android user, looking for free wifi in Tokyo...you know how difficult that is to find. That's why we felt so fortunate to have free wifi in the lobby. If you have a laptop, you will have free wired internet connection in your room.
-Great location: There is a convenience store practically right next door. Starbucks is a couple blocks away (no free wifi though). Subways were very close - about 5 -10 minute walk. Tons of places to each and drink. Love the sushi restaurants in that area. There is a community center (about 15 minute walk) where you can workout at their gym for 400yen for 2 hours. They have treadmills, bikes, weights, machines and even classes! We went a few times and it was like working out in the states!
-Clean, decent rooms: Standard cleaning - towels, sheets changed daily...also robes. Air conditioning can be set to low, med, or high. There was a refrigerator, plus freezer. There is a small table and chairs which we didn't use much except to put our stuff on top. There was also a desk and a seat...and a tv.
-Bathroom was pretty nice. The tub deep. The ceiling and shower head was low for my husband but he didn't complain too much. The shampoo and conditioner were better quality than most hotels. You can also get free toothbrush and toothpaste daily. Not much counter space on the sink though but enough to put our toiletries. Oh and try out the butt spray or bidet when using their toilets! ;-)
-Front desk: very helpful, spoke enough English, they were great with wake up calls, they always got phone messages.

The cons:
-Small Bed: The bed is small but we both fit and was able to tolerate each other on the space. Before we chose this hotel, we did a thorough research on this hotel, including contacting reviewers of this hotel to make sure we were going to be okay with the size of the bed. So we knew the bed was going to be small. To be comfortable, one of us had to sleep on our side which wasn't a huge problem for us. The bed was on the hard side...but we slept well with no issues.
-Small room: Though the room was clean,it was very small. The bed took up 90% of the space. We had two huge suitcases with us. We had to stack them on top of one another to make room.
-No closet/drawers: Since we were staying for 9 nights, so we would have liked to unpack but we really couldn't because there was no where to put our stuff. However, there were a couple of hooks with hangers for our nice shirts and dresses to hang up...but that's about it. I think they could put in a couple of decent size shelves on the walls - there is space for that.
-Smokers could be next door to you: The smell didn't really seep into our rooms but you can totally smell it in the hallway.

We thought the pros outweighed the cons in our situation since we were able to adapt. We didn't spend much time in our room, we just used it to basically sleep. We loved the neighborhood. I miss it already. We will definitely come back.

I recommend this hotel highly...but only if you're not picky about your sleeping situation. If you're a couple, make sure one or both of you are willing to sleep on your side. If you're just one person...no problem at all, you are good to go!

Rude reception, expensive and bad internet (and only one computer!) and awful rooms. In the other hotels we stayed in in Japan, even though the rooms were small they were always comfortable and the beds were large enough. We are a pretty slim couple and there was not enough room for both of us in the bed! IT was also hot and extremely uncomfortable. The hotel is also not in a very nice place, no where close to eat and we found the train station hard to find. If you're going to Tokyo and want somewhere cheap to stay then I would recommend the Oak Hotel in Ueno!

Room Tip: just don't stay here

Small but nice hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bedrooms were very clean but very small.
Excellent localization, 4 metro stations about a block away from the hotel.
Good value for money.
