Arrived for the Tokyo Motor Show last night and checked into Hotel Sunroute Ariake. Having booked online, the counter staff recognised from the size of our frames that the "double" wasn't quite the double we were expecting and tactfully suggested an upgrade. On their busiest night of the year, they gave us a twin for an extra 500 Yen/night, about $25 Aussie dollars in total across our four night stay! Well done.

The rooms are very small, but there's enough space for what we need and anyway, isn't Tokyo renowned for what they can cram into a small space? With what room there is, they get an awful lot in, and for an economy hotel, this place is great value.

Other than the space restriction, which Trip Advisor forewarned us about, I don't have a bad word to say about this hotel. In fact, I'm not even complaining about that, since the small rooms are the reason we can afford to stay 500m from the motor show venue!

The beds are quite hard, but that's most likely my western sensibilities showing through. I'm sure they're entirely appropriate for a Japanese hotel.

Before check-in, I had concerns about the Trip Advisor reference to its Japanese business traveller focus. This really is their key market. At least 75% of their rooms are singles according to the hotel information on the tv menu. What that actually translates as, however, is the features you need in the room, nothing you don't, with a few cool gadgets thrown in (water-spray loo, foot massager, ioniser) and with classy decor in the public areas of the hotel, equivalent to a four or five star hotel.

This is a top notch hotel, and when you take into account the economy prices, it's superb value.

Hotel Sunroute Ariake ROCKS!

Room Tip: We shuffled the twin beds around to create a bit more space in the room... don't tell management!

I just would like to add a little bit as all previous reviews have described many details about the hotel (especially aussietravellers60.. thanks to you as your review's very helpful for me)..

Besides direct access with Limousine Bus from Narita Airport, similar service is also available from Haneda Airport (http://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en/platform_searches/index/4/51).. Fare is 600 yen (one way).. Two stations of Rinkai Line and Yurikamome Line are also convenience to explore surroundings and access to other tourist destinations..

My room was in the 5th floor and it was slightly larger compare to many business hotel.. although may not have a terrific view from the 5th floor, standard toiletries are available as well as hot pot and tea bag (unfortunately my room didn't have a foot message).. It's quiet and clean.. breakfast at Patio (2nd floor) was also very satisfying.. rich of variety and good taste..

Look forward to staying here again for a family trip next time..

Hotel Sunroute Ariake on Tokyo waterfront is a new hotel with easy access to Tokyo Big Sight, Yurikomome monorail, JR rail station, Palette Town shopping centre, Toyota Mega Web, and neighbouring area of Odaiba. Access to the hotel is direct with Limousine Bus from Narita airport (terminal 1 and terminal 2) and is a relaxing ride of almost an hour or less to the main entrance of Sunroute Ariake Hotel. Fare is 2400y pp. Check in is quick and friendly in a modern setting and various floors of the hotel have different levels for ladies only, smoking floor, and the top four floors are the B Conte Apartments.
Staff are okay with english and not to much of a problem.
Being a Disney Neighbourhood Resort hotel, shuttle buses are provided free to and from the Disney parks. A trip on the bus to Disney is about 25 minutes right to the front entrance of Disney Resorts.
The room was adequate. Beds comfortable, linen fresh and clean, full bidet toilet, LCD television (with CNN), foot massager, small refrigerator, boiling jug, green tea is only supplied. On second floor Lawson convenience store for necessary milk, coffee, and supplies. The room was air conditioned, and the view was only off nearby office buildings. The hotel has a nice feel and the housekeeping staff kept the room fresh and spotless. Very impressed.
The lobby area has four laptops for internet use free to hotel guests.
The hotel has a very nice ambience, and is quiet and never were disturbed by any noise or traffic during our stay of five nights.
Opposite the hotel in the TFT building there is Subway, McDonalds and some restaurants. In the hotel is Patio restaurant and Blendmeister Cafe and bar, plus a mail office for posting items.
Power adaptors are available for a 1000y deposit. You can also purchase your Disney tickets at reception.
Right next door to the hotel is Tokyo Panasonic centre, showing all the latest electronics in the Panasonic range and the new 'ecology ideas' on the second floor.
Just a few minutes walk from the hotel to Tokyo Big Sight, and 15 minutes from hotel to Toyota MegaWeb and Palette Town with Venus Fort shopping centre.
The monorail station is at Wanza Mall opposite the hotel and runs from the mall to Palette Town and round through to Odaiba and on to Shimbashi in Tokyo.
The monorail trip into Shimbashi is about 30 minutes. A taxi from Shimbashi station to Tokyo Tower is 1000y.
Hotel Sunroute Ariake is a great choice with so many attractions and easy transport close by. The room however, did not have a mini bar, any facilities for cooking and the bathroom is a squeeze, and no radio. All in all would stay again and appreciated the hospitality from the staff who made our stay very enjoyable.

Walking distrance to Big Sight exhibition center. Very confortable when you have to be there for some days; it saves a lot of traveling time in the morning.
Direct bus from Narita.
Location also god to get into town, or to the main JR hubs for your planned visits. Take the Rinkai line (station name is Kokusaitenjijo) and travel either to Shin-Kiba to tranfer JR to Tokyo station (e.g. when you need Skinkanses), or the other direction straight to Shinjuku. And this subway is very silent int he morning.
The monorail (station Airake) brings you to Shimbashi, but takes about 25 minutes.
Hotel: great value for price. WLAN (free), clean room, close to many restaurants (building accross and Washing hotel building). 24 hours convenience store.
Not super place for (late) night events; take the subway to get "home".
Straight accross entrance, there is also a good coffee shop , when you are looking for a good coffee breakfast.
