The permanent exhibition is not that rich but is really well organized in sections and allows visitors to travel into different ages of contemporary art. It worth a couple of hour visit!

Saw this place on the map whilst staying in Sumida. Figured I would wonder in and check it out. There were 3 separate exhibits that day. One was a child's exhibit but didn't realize that until going inside. That was a wonderful experience. Two little guys up in a large "fun box" were reaching down to me as I rounded the corner with their hands out to high-five me saying, "Kanichiwa!" I quickly reached up to them, high-fived them, and responded, "Kanichiwa!". What a truly awesome experience that was. There was also a few other exhibits. Checked those out and found it a nice place to go for quiet contemplation of the exhibits.

Nice trek to enjoyment that day.

There was no show at the time we went, but we had seen the building from the sky view from Roppongi Hills, and were nearby. So glad we went as it is a great space, even with no art to see. We just walked around, and didn't have to pay for an exhibit. (Actually there was a show of local artists, almost all hideous works. Seems common in museums to give wall space to locals. Strange...)

Also an amazing pop-up gift store in the basement that was great shopping. We missed the open lunch hours at the Paul Bocuse Cafe and would have eaten there but got there too late.

The permanent exhibitions are definitely worth a look. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to meander through the displays (last entry is 5:30pm with closure at 6:00pm). When I visited, there was a great exhibit where you lie down on soft cushioned flooring and watch a video image on the ceiling.

This museum was a real delight, getting there was easy enough and it is a nice area to wonder around in as the sun goes down.

The special exhibitions that were on were Tokyo Art Meeting III and MOT Annual. These were playful exhibitions and were presented expertly with helpful staff and full English notes. It was a real joy to just wonder through. My only minor complaint is the amount of paper flyers handed out to visitors upon purchasing a ticket.

Seeing all three exhibits was value for money (1500 Yen) and was three hours well spent.
