We stayed at this hotel last year and absolutely loved it.

The location is a little out of the city centre, but still a very central area (less than 10 mins into the beating heart of Tokyo). The surrounding area is lovely, with loads of very cool furniture shops, great restaurants and quirky shops. We found it a great introduction to Tokyo and Japan after a long and tiring flight.

The room was massive, beautiful and immaculate. Staff were great- helpful, warm and friendly. The breakfast was a work of art and a great introduction to the Japanese way of doing everything to highest standard. The art gallery and shop were really exciting and had some amazing thing on sale.

We found this a great place to start a trip around japan- gentle, relaxing yet exciting and cool. We returned to Tokyo a few weeks later and stayed in the Mandarin Oriental (great, but very pricy) but I think I enjoyed claska a bit more.

Thoroughly recommended.

I walked in, and was greeted by name – that was a good feeling. Not only were front desk staff well-groomed, they were helpful and had a variety of maps to make sure I didn't get lost.
I stayed at the DIY rooms, and it was like being part of an installation piece. Really novel. Everything in the room has been thoughtfully placed for comfort! Rooms are also big considering the price and that it's Tokyo.
Thanks to one of the reviewers here, I took a bus from Meguro station and it was very easy to get here, just that bus fare is expensive - 220 yen! But buses stop very late at night (past 11) and display the name of the bus stop so Shimizu was easy to stop at.
Food at the Claska was slightly underwhelming. But some of the best food I've had in Tokyo was close to the restuarant at INDIGO (slightly pricey Californian restaurant but sooo worth it - try the pistachio creme brulee!) and Cou Ki (spicy Ramen - awesome!). Both restaurants are on the hotel fold-out map, along with many other attractions.
Another thing to note is that there are many stores and restaurants close to Gakugeigaku station so it's worth taking an amble there if you don't feel like going to town.
I must also recommend Nakameguro's 'riverside' shopping (the nice Claska front desk staff told me how to find the nice stores there) and Daikanyama, all very accessible from Gakugeigaku station.
In all, The Claska is simply enjoyment after the other for arty connoisseurs of Tokyo life! Can't wait to be back!

We checked in for our last night in Japan and - given the photos - were looking forward to staying at Claska. It was even better than expected and worth the price. Rooms are super (had 606 - parents and 403 - for the 3 kids); staff is very friendly and helpful. Next time we'll reserve more time for staying there, and checking out the Meguro quarter whichs is full of interesting stores. Be aware that Claska is a bit further away from the touristic hot spots, don't miss it.

Room Tip: 606 - tatami room 403 - excellent to sleep 3 teenagers

The Claska is an entire experience - lovely rooms, restaurant, gallery and shop. My husband and I stayed for 5 nights with our 6 year old and the staff went out their way to make our son's stay - including free DVDs and showering him with affection. Each room has its own interior design scheme so we sure to go on their website and select one you like. Don't miss the roof garden which has a great view of Tokyo. If you like interior design, there are lots of cool furniture shops nearby. Plus very easy to reach Central Tokyo from this location. Claska we still miss you and will be back.

The Claska is an absolute delight!

I love, love, love this hotel and it is a unique Tokyo experience. Everything about this hotel works. The service is absolutely first rate and all the staff are wonderful.

I've stayed in two different type of rooms - the traditional ryokan style and the western. Both are great, but I'd have to recommend the western room as there is more spaces to store your belongings (the ryokan room, while large, was a little spartan for my tastes).

But it is the bar and restaurant that really makes this hotel. Frequented by arty, Tokyo types, you could sit here all day people watching. It also helps that a dog grooming salon is attached to the hotel and you can watch all the action from the bar! The food is delicious, especially the traditional Japanese breakfast. It is also great to stop by for a night cap and dessert on your way in from a night out - try the matcha creme brûlée, it is delicious!

Note, the Claska is not in the heart of Tokyo, but I think that is what makes it all the more interesting!

I just only stay there for one night, but the experience is delighted. I love all the deco and elegant taste of the designers who decorated this hotel. it's not a big hotel for vacation, so if you want to have spa, swimming pool or GYM, maybe you'll be disappointed. But this hotel is really a quiet and easy stay in a busy city, you can ease your mind easily from the first step you walk in. Kind of a retro chic deco but mixed a little bit of japanese "Zen" style. Claska hotel is a little bit far from Metro station, you have to walk about 15 mins to the nearest station, or took about 4 stops to JR station by bus. And maybe it's a redecoration from an old hotel, so the wall is a little bit thick that you can hear sounds from next room. Overall, I like this hotel, and the price is also valuable for it's service and amenities. If you just want have a casual trip for your own, this could be a good choice, but if you have a busy trip for shopping or hanging around this city, mass transportation is important to you, then maybe Claska is not so perfect.
