Great location for Ginza and Shimbashi. The staff were all phenomenally helpful. Super fast complimentary wifi in the rooms. The only thing keeping this hotel from getting 5 stars was the fact that the rooms are all a bit dated, but for the money it's the best deal in the area.

Also, can't recommend the concierge enough -- they were very helpful in recommending restaurants, giving us directions, etc.

Stayed 2 nights here at 15th floor. Everything is perfect with Japanese Omotenashi. One of the end of famous Ginza street is here in Shimbashi. This hotel is located at the center of Tokyo. JR, Japanese Railroad and Tokyo Metro Subway available here. Also Shimbashi is the terminal station for Yurikamome line for beautiful Tokyo Ocean front, notably it is with Tokyo Big Site where many exhibition and conference is held.

Room Tip: Higher floor might be better. The hotel is located in front of Shimbashi station and If you're g...

The hotel's main strength is excellent location for a reasonable price.

It's easy to get to via Narita Express and then 2 stops on JR from tokyo station (doable with suitcases) - we worked out that our NEX ticket (~3000yen) included the JR fare; otherwise there's a hotel shuttle (timetable on hotel website). Taxi to Tokyo station is just over 1000yen - much easier if there's bulky luggage.

10min walking distance to a large number of restaurants around shimbashi station and ginza, along with all the shopping. There is direct access to metro from the basement on 3 lines so getting around tokyo is fantastically convenient from the hotel.

The hotel is a little dated but excellent service - most staff spoke reasonable English. Amenities were good - wifi was free for our rooms but gym and pool was in the next (annex) building and was not complimentary. Rooms were reasonable sizes and our wives loved the great Shiseido toiletries. Being close to JR also means that noise can be an issue. We were on level 17 and can still hear the train until just after midnight - the northwest side would be the furthest away from the train station. There's a great little bakery in the hotel lobby and a 24 convenience store directly across the street.

We only tried the teppanyaki restaurant in the hotel which was reasonably good but pricey. Given there are so many great restaurants around the area and in ginza we'd recommend looking around.

Overall a solid 4 for our rating.

Room Tip: North facing is a little further away from the train noise although probably not much difference - h...

The room is spacious and clean, with big bathroom and well stocked ablution staffs. We pay a little extra to stay on club floor which provides free very good continental breakfast. Otherwise , we have to pay quite a bit for the breakfast.
The view of Tokyo Tower and night view is amazing. We like the bar on the top floor.great view and service.
There are a lot of eating places and convenient stores near the hotel. The Shinbashi subway is less than 3 minutes away and the Shinbashi JR station is a little further, about 5 minutes away.
It is within walking distance to Ginza.
We would stay here again if we come to Tokyo again.

Room Tip: If you want breakfast and don't want to pay for breakfast, opt for the club room with good view...

We had a great stay at the Dai-ichi Hotel. I would highly recommend it for its location close to the many attractions of Ginza. There is even direct access to Shimbashi underground station. The beds were good (I am quite sensitive to hard beds). It was also good value. So perfect for our holiday except one thing, which is why I gave it 4 out of 5. The Gym is located next door and is very poor with sub standard equipment. The pool is also located next door and appears to be used by pensioners for serious exercising. It is not a place to take your children for splashing around. I love my exercising and my family loves a quick swim, but in spite of the feature picture for the hotel being the pool, there is for practical purposes none. The hotel should be honest and say that there is no pool or Gym. It would still be very attractive as a package, given location, service and price. I felt good about not paying "Peninsula" prices, and the many restaurants just inside Ginza offer tremendous choice. Try the "Dazzle" which is great in spite of the name.

Staying here on business so can't comment on value for money but I can say;

Location - 2 min walk from Shimbashi station, 2 stops from Tokyo station.
Spotless hotel.
Decor is fantastic.
Staff extremely polite, as you would expect in Japan.
Rooms, very good size, the most comfortable bed in the world, if you like firm beds and pillows to die for, again nice and firm, not hard.
Bathroom - shower and separate bath which is a good size (I/m 6' 2'').
Food - Very good. It is not western at all, so don't think your going to eat a full English, Continental (to a degree) and the the rest is Japanese. Don't get me wrong, it looks lovely and is fresh but is jut not my cup of tea.

Room Tip: The higher you go the better the view and the quieter it is!

I was in Tokyo for a 4 day business trip this April and the choice of the hotel made my stay there even more enjoyable.First, the location is very good as it is very close to Ginza, moreover, there are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity, some of them even have English menus. The hotel is very clean? sleeping facilities are perfect. The visitors don't have to bother about shower cosmetics - it is all Shiseido what they put in the bathrooms. Tea corner is also very god. All in all there is nothing to complain about.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a quite room as the railroad is very near.
