“Beautiful and peaceful, more enjoyable than other Tokyo temples”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

I thought this place was pretty amazing - a sea of tranquility right in the middle of the city.

It was perfectly serene inside the gates - no shopping stalls lining the street as in Asukasa and pretty much silent.

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Tokyo and I would recommend stopping by.

“Sakura Slope is beautiful near by here”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

Sakura is very beautiful Sakurazaka on the north side towards the Tokyo Prince from Zojoji. I love this place and spring season.

“Temple with Tokyo tower viw”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

Just a temple with tokyo tower as its back drop. Nothing special, and it gets kinda scary at night when you see all the traveller's statues where they put some red bibs on them. yikes

“cool”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Right in the middle of the mess of Tokyo, a cool place to go, hang out, offer prayers and thoughts. Its a nice place to hang out and soak in the history before going back into the concrete jungle! Totally worth hanging out and checking it out. and its right in the middle of everything so you wont go out of your way to check it out.

“Beautiful Haven in the City.”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

We found the Zojoji Temple on our way to the Tokyo Tower and stopped for a while to bask in the flowering cherry blossoms that add incredible beauty to the gardens here. We seemed to have stumbled across a celebration of sorts, as there were market stalls, monks and women in traditional dress adding colour and movement to this shrine. There are other interesting things to see in the grounds, such as trees planted by some former US Presidents, and a statue representing Buddha's footprint. There is also a temple and shrine to still born babies, a little confronting to see the rows and rows of stone "children" but very poignant nonetheless. It also gives you a fantastic photographic opportunity to capture the old of the temple and the new of the Tokyo Tower looming over it in the background.
