We stayed at the nearby Capitol hotel (fantastic) and they provided a list of nearby restaurants. Our chef, Mr Ohyoma entertained us with his skills and stories, he also expanded his vocabulary with his electronic translator.
Decisions. ........ do we have the Wagyo from Japan or Australia (export grade from home)? After much deliberation Mr Ohyoma showed the butchers offering, detailing the marbling with an explanation of the grading.
Great service, sake, food with lovely flavours and a fun night.

Thank Simon F

I had heard about Dante Teppenyaki through the Michael Jackson fan network, because MJ ate here with his team while on his HIStory tour in Japan. So, I wanted to enjoy a meal here and add the restaurant to my list of MJ pilgrimage sites I have visited around the world. This is not as frivolous as it may seem to some, as it is a wonderful way to see and experience people, places and cultures you would otherwise not be impelled to seek out. Of course dining in a teppenyaki restaurant in a city that is famous for them is not exactly adventurous, but I loved the food (lunch time set meal No. 1) thought it good value compared to some of the prices I had payed for lesser quality meals elsewhere, and I loved the fuss and attention I received because I made it known I was there because I was a Michael Jackson fan. I would certainly recommend the dining experience to those who are just looking for a good beef or seafood meal and the satisfaction of having it cooked directly in front of them with skill and attention to detail. Besides, it tastes great!

We ate here for my husbands 40th birthday. We ate the Special menu (teppanyaki), the beef was the best we've ever had. Truly amazing!

OK, Japan is the home of Teppanyaki so you’d expect it to be good but this place goes beyond good... way WAY beyond.

The location is available on-line so simply give the address to a taxi driver. It’s on a side street so you’ll have trouble finding it otherwise. A very charming and spotless interior full of personality and is very well ventilated so the grill won’t suffocate you or destroy your clothes.

The staff is hugely friendly and several speak English quite well. Get them talking and they open up with friendly questions and stories that make the dinner even more special. The very kind woman owner/manager (sorry I do not know which) was a delight; and as she got to know us better, the sake glasses kept arriving more and more full :-) and always delivered with a smile and kind word.

The ingredients were impeccably fresh and beautiful to behold. We had a seafood course (prawns and scallops) a vegetable course (pumpkin and onion) and a meat course (two types of steak). WOW! I’ve eaten all over Tokyo and many other parts of Asia and that was the best Teppanyaki ever. The garlic fried rice was to die for. Ohyama-san, our chef was terrific. Charming and talkative to just the right degree.

On the day I went on business, the service and food was perfect. When hearing that we wanted to try karaoke as well, the owner said she knew of a place and, rather than merely give directions, she insisted on walking us there. Much appreciated. I then brought my family back two days later and we felt such appreciation for the gesture; they treated us even better, if that were possible.

If you go to only one place for the full-on Tokyo experience, make it Dante.
