My husband and I are stationed with the US Navy in Japan and visit often to the New Sanno-

The rooms are beautiful, clean, "American" size with ample toiletries in the bathroom. There is a delicious Japanese restaurant (cook in front of you), steak house (although we are vegetarians), café/bakery, deli/sandwich shop, and a WONDERFUL Sunday brunch with a HUGE variety of food both Western and Japanese.

There is a great gift shop offering an assortment of Japanese gifts!

There is also a bar that serves a classier version of bar food, drinks, and a small "casino" with slot machines to play for fun. There are lots of nice seating and TV's for those sports fans. The entire hotel is non-smoking.

There is a pool and spa for those that want a pedi/mani, haircut, facial or massage.

It truly is an excellent hotel with professional and friendly staff!

The hotel location is EXCELLENT!!
A walk away from the Hiroo train station, and lots of restaurants, bars, cafes, ect right on along the same street if you don't wish to take the train anywhere. For those that want to see the Tokyo nightlife Roppongi is a few train stops away and you will be in the middle of the bar/nightclub scene.

I would recommend this hotel for singles, couples, married, and families!

Enjoy!

Room Tip: All rooms are EXCELLENT. There is the option to book a "Japanese" style room to experienc...

Stayed at the New Sanno June 2 to June 5 2014. Arrival and check-in went without any difficulties and our bags were carried to our room. We had a standard double with a pull-out sofa bed. Room was on the 7th floor and was well appointed overlooking the city. Just a note: we booked about six months ahead of our arrival as we heard this is a very popular destination and the hotel is full of guests most days. We ate at the Kirkuya Restaurant tempanyaki-style our first evening and really enjoyed the meal and our conversation with the table chef.

On Wednesday evening we had reservations at the Wellington for 6 PM and had the whole restaurant to ourselves as we were the only one dining there this evening. We enjoyed the prix fixe menu and enjoyed the bison filet as the entre. Service was wonderful.

The property is about a ten minute walk to the Hiro-o train station so you have easy access to all shopping areas and places of interest.

All in all a great spot if you have military credentials to make a reservation.

We met friends here for our 10 wedding anniversary reunion. EXCELLENT on all levels! Professional and courteous staff.
The rooms were very nice and well appointed for our needs. The restaurants are all wonderful choices. It's difficult to find any one area that wasn't the absolute best it could be. Great location and accessible to transportation.
BOOK EARLY!!

This was our first stay in the "new" building. The hotel website was very helpful in getting us from Narita airport to the hotel. The Limousine Bus was great. Less than two hour trip to the hotel. You have to be DoD to qualify for a stay. My 30 yrs in the Navy met that qualification. Hotel is close to subway line which is the only way to get around. It is easy to use. Download the Tokyo subway app for your apple. It can be used offline. We had no trouble getting to where we wanted to go. The restaurants in the hotel are excellent but we ate our lunch and dinner in local restaurants. If you want to get the Japanese style rooms you need to book early. We were very comfortable in a standard room. As expected, service was excellent, rooms clean and everything in working order. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Japanese suites are limited and go fast.

A friend and I stayed here for a couple of days while we toured Tokyo. As mentioned, it is a military only facility, so you need a military ID card (which will be checked every time upon entering the gates to the hotel. I had booked a twin room, but was given a double room. When I asked if there were any twin rooms left, I was told the hotel has 3 twin-type rooms! I find this a bit absurd as I'm sure there are quite a few people (not couples) who stay there. Nonetheless, one of us had to sleep on the sofa sleeper, which wasn't so bad, just ask for extra blankets. Aside from that snafu, the hotel is a 5 min. walk to the train station and Roppongi is only one stop away...which offers great restaurants and shopping! The hotel also has a few shops to include a souvenir shop, which has a large assortment of items to choose from. We had dinner in their new Japanese restaurant, (Kikuya) and it was just as good as any other Japanese place outside the hotel. The restaurant staff were very attentive to say the least. The hotel also has a concierge service, which is great, as we were able to book a trip to Mt Fuji for the day, and the bus picked us up and dropped us off, which was very convenient. We also took the shuttle to/from Yokota AB, which was very convenient as we avoided the crowds of taking the train. Definitely will stay there in the very near future.

Room Tip: Our room was on the street side, however we didn't hear any noise.

As this hotel is on base, expect to have your passport and ID ready each time you enter the gounds. Good location, near train stations, shopping and restaurants. There's a great little general store nearby on the corner that we stocked up on food and drinks each time we returned from our day's activities.

If you're retired or active military or perhaps a government employee and you want to spend a week or so in Tokyo at a reasonably-priced, centrally-located hotel with a restaurant serving western food, then the New Sanno is the place for you~!! The hotel is beyond outstanding and although there are many hotels in Tokyo, their prices are more than double the Sanno's. You must make reservations far in advance - look them up on the internet for their email and phone number. I took my family of nine there and stayed two weeks in beautiful Tokyo for less than half of what it would have cost on the local economy. We had three rooms, there was a pool, a sub shop, a store, the Hiro Train Station was just down the street, the people were great and I cannot say one thing bad about the New Sanno Hotel. Getting from the airport to the hotel is a bit involved but there is a shuttle bus. Ask the Sanno when you reserve. Why go to Tokyo? Well for one thing, a round-trip ticket from Florida to Tokyo is half the cost of a round-trip ticket from Florida to Hawaii~!! What a deal - our family has gone there twice for two weeks each and we had a great time~!! Go - you'll never regret it~!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are good but to make your trip "special" when you reserve, ask for a room th...
