“Great location, clean and good rooms”
Reviewed 11 July 2010

This hotel has good metro and railroad connections to the other parts of Tokyo. It is a good place to stay, if you want to visit in Tokyo. Rooms are clean and quiet. Hotel seems to be popular among business and conference travellers as well as families and international visitors.

Stayed at the Villa Fontaine for the second time in May 2010 and it looks like I will keep staying here whenever I visit Tokyo. The hotel has a posh impressive lobby with a soaring atrium and this never fails to make a strong impression on visitors. Location-wise, it's great. Well connected to Shimbashi JR station, several subway lines and the Yurakucho monorail. Tsukiji market is just one stop down or 20min walk away. The Hama Rikyu garden is just across the road. The room is similar in size to other typical business hotels in Japan but it offers a comfortable stay. Broadband connections are also good. The hotel also gives good value in that it provides a decent buffet breakfast - which many other business hotels don't. For a Ginza location, the price makes this hotel value for money. I have recommended this place often to my friends and they in turn give it good reviews.

It is easy to go from Narita airport to this hotel. You can just take a limousine bus from the airport to Conrad which is next door to Villa Fontaine Shiodome. The hotel is in the Sumitomo building and it is right above Shiodome station on the Toei Oedo Line. It's is also closed to Shimbashi station. We used underground walkway to go there. There were many salary-man type restaurants around that area.

If you like Sushi, you must go to Tsukiji Market. It's is about 10-15 mins walk from the hotel. They even provide map for you. we had great sushi at Yamazaki Sushi in Tsukiji. Although it is not as popular as Daiwa Sushi or Shushi-dai, I liked their sushi a lot.

Hotel provides free breakfast. I really liked their Japanese breakfast. I had Natto, rice, veggies, seaweed, and miso soup. They have western style breakfast also but I didn't try. It isn't fancy, but it's free!

On my floor, they have a washing machine, a dryer and a vending machine. So it is very convenient when you need to wash clothes or want to buy some drinks. Some floors even have vending machine for meal boxes like Gyu-don, Oden, and Ramen.

Room size is fine. I never expect a large room in Tokyo with this price anyway. However, I didn't like the room. The room I got has a window that facing the inside of the building. So I can see hotel's lobby from my room. I couldn't get fresh air from outside at all. I had really bad allergies every time I stepped into my room. It seemed like they didn't clean their carpet well. I didn't ask for a new room because I went to my friend's room on another floor and I still had the same symptoms. But when I was in the lobby or outside the hotel room, I was always fine. I only sneezed, and coughed when I was in the room.

I didn't like their bed too. It was hard and I heard noises from springs in the mattress every time I moved. I was there for 4 nights and had no good sleep.

I think this hotel is good if you don't have allergies and don't mind the hard mattress. Location is great. Price is also good. Hotel staffs are fine. For me, I don't think I will go back there again. (Only because of my allergies)

We've stayed in Villa Fontaine Shiodome for three times during the past two years. We always find this hotel to be of good value, especially in an expensive city like Tokyo. The staff were polite, helpful and spoke very good English. The rooms are definitely small, not much view, but very functional. Even though they do not offer a swimming pool or gym, we found that we didn't miss much as there were so many things to do in Tokyo.

If you enjoy night life, you should book the one in Shijuku or Roppongi because Shiodome is a business district and there aren't much to see after 9:00 pm , even if you go to Shimbashi. The East meets West Breakfast at the hotel lobby was not the most exciting part of our stay, but it's included. Long distance call charges were reasonable, usage of internet or computer is free at the business centre.

We've recommended this particular hotel to many of our friends and they just loved it. Keep in mind, it's not a 5-Star hotel but a great hotel of great value.

If you come by metro to Shimbashi station then it's a 10 min walk (underground) to the hotel. You arrive right at the front door of the hotel, so it was really convenient not to walk on the streets with the crowd.
Hotel is in a very fancy building with an impressive lobby and interior. Room size was OK, everything was clean and comfy. There is a complimentary breakfast in the lobby. For my taste it was quite weird mixture of western and asian food, i.e croissants, boiled eggs, rice, soup, salad, boiled wieners. If you prefer other food, there are cafés, restaurants and even Starbucks in the building.
There is no wifi available, only LAN connection in the rooms. Also, there is possibility for hotel guests to use computers for free at the business center.
I really liked the proximity to the train stations, 15 min walk to Ginza area and cleanliness of the hotel.
