“High quality goods, conveniently located, budget friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2014

There're a lot of shops and "bazaars" in Tokyo selling what could best be described as "over-priced Asian-themed trinkets to sell to gullible foreigners", but the Wa Space is not one of these. I stopped by after hearing a friend get excited about its collection and came away pretty impressed. Their wares are authentic pieces made by talented Japanese artists and designers from all over the country. You can find modern tableware with a quiet aesthetic (the Edo Kiriko glasses on display were especially nice) or an impressive lacquered chest one could swear is an antique. The prices range from affordable to much higher, but generally their collection is not out of reach for someone on a modest budget. The staff is happy to tell you about the pieces or the history of their designers, too, which is a nice touch.

“Great shop for Japanese design!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

The Wa Space is a shop-gallery selling exclusive products ranging from traditional decorative items to modern tableware designed and handcrafted by various Japanese artists. The shop recently opened and is a great destination if you are looking to buy unique Japanese goods of a higher grade than your typical souvenirs from Oriental Bazaar or Narita Airport. Be aware though that the shop is a bit hard to find as it is located in a back street of Akasaka. The prices also tend to be on the high-end side. They also have an online shop which is great if you want to order their products from overseas.
