We booked as walk ins, being airline employees. The last minute booking had us switching from single to double rooms (our fault for no advance reservations). The double room was great, with a large shower area. The single room was tighter, but worked for our family of 3. The staff was great - very accommodating and polite, and the language barrier was only a small problem. The hotel's close to HND, with a short walk to a market that's open until 1a. Three blocks to the JR rail station made it easy for our sightseeing. Great value for the price. We'd look for this hotel again if we revisit Tokyo!

The great thing about this hotel is the value for money, no doubt about it, it is cheap, it is clean and you get a good value for what you pay.
I only rate it as average because 1-the rooms are VERY small, box like, the people in reception are not very helpful as their command of English are limited and they do not look specially well trained or focused to help and finaly for a hotel than advertise themselves as closed to the airport, they are still about $30+ of taxi ride away from Haneda.

Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Great value for money. I needed to be near airport but was easy to get into town. Nice local area. Requested an upper level level floor which I got. Common area floors on my floor need to be upholstered; my actual room was great. Travelled alone. Might be a bit small for two.

Room Tip: Request an upper level floor.

I chose a single room & there is not doubt about it, the rooms are small, but they usually are in Japan. That is not a bad thing in this case. They are so well laid out & ergonomically correct, they are "extremely" comfortable. I had a great couple of nights & slept like a baby in the bed, which I would actually say is about the size of a regular double. The rooms have everything you need & more. Gadget geaks like my self will love these roms. The bathrooms do have a bath tub & although about 3/4 of the size of a regular tub, they are a lot deeper, which does make up for it. I was amazed about the heated toilet seats. Plenty of bench top space for computers, phone, tablet & writing material. I was on business, but having a layover short vacation. Lots of "American" 110 style plug sockets too, which is something I nearly always struggle to find in hotel rooms. I can't really fault the room at all & perfect for what I needed. You are easy walking distance from Kamata Station. From there you can basically get anywhere....& really close to Haneda Airport, so no big taxi fares transferring luggage around. Taxis are very expensive in Tokyo. There is more little restaurants of various types & tastes in the immediate surrounding area than you can shake a stick at. It would be a struggle to eat at all the different restaurants in a 2 week vacation, changing for breakfast, lunch & dinner each time. I tried several over two days, but I was out & about a lot around the city & on tour to Mount Fuji/Hakone. It was easy getting to the departing main tour bus terminal from Kamata Station. Last but not least...The staff in this hotel are "Tremendous!" They go out of their way for you! All in all, you will be hard pressed to find a better all round hotel than this one. It really does what it says on the label! Two thumbs well up from me! Very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Pick room 909 if you want a single. I can't really fault it for the money!

First of all, thank you for staying at Hotel Mystays Kamata.
It is the utmost honor for us to be received such compliments from you.
We are really glad to know you enjoyed your stay.

In Japan, there are a lot of spots worth visiting. Especially, there are many attractions in Tokyo. As you mentioned, our hotel is located in a very convenient place to explore around Tokyo.

Moreover, if you can catch the shuttle bus, it takes about 30minutes from our accommodation to Haneda Airport. It costs much cheaper than taking a taxi. (The first bus leaves 4:30)

If you need a larger bed, we recommend you to stay at a deluxe double room.
In this room, you are absolutely able to stay more comfortably.

Once again, thank you for your review.
We keep on trying to offer comfortable stay for every guest.
We would be appreciated if we could welcome you again.

It's hard to get decent sized rooms with genuine queen beds and good pillows in Tokyo without paying big money. The price of this place for a couple was barely more than staying at a backpackers/guesthouse like K's but had most of the amenities and a lot more comfort, including ensuite bathroom, and was vastly better and cheaper than the 'budget' Ryokans that we stayed in last time.

There are 2 washing machines/dryers on the ground floor (this is extremely helpful on long trips so you can pack light), alongside a good coffee machine. Small fridges in the rooms, and microwaves, ice machines and noodles/drinks vending on a couple of floors, selling at konbini pricing. There is a supermarket 30s walk away, and several convenience stores close by. We typically had onigiri, sushi, tamagoyaki and fruit for breakfasts which was very cheap.

The station is about 3 minutes walk away at a leisurely pace where there are a lot of restaurants and food outlets (eg. Tokyu Plaza; see my other reviews). We also found that Kamata station was useful to use with a JR pass (generally speaking not good value unless also travelling well away from Tokyo) as we could access Shinjuku, Shinagawa, Tokyo, Akihabara, Asakusa, etc quite easily on JR lines under 30 mins or much less.

I found most staff had some English and were very helpful.

Would best suit travellers on a budget that still want some comfort but need the ability to self cater to a degree and washing facilities.

First of all, thank you for staying at Hotel Mystays Kamata.
We are pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel. Furthermore, we would like to appreciate your warm comments about the room and our staff members.

As you mentioned, two washing machines and two dryers are available for every guest for free.
Therefore, it is very convenient for guests who stay especially for long term.

Unfortunately, there is no restaurant in our hotel. However, we sell breakfast tickets to have in Becker's that is located in JR Kamata station instead. In addittion, there is a variety of food selling in Japanese convenience stores as you stated. If you would like to experience Japanese culture, it is a kind of ways to experience for tourists.

Once again, thank you for your review.
We keep on trying to offer comfortable stay for every guest.
We would be appreciated if we could welcome you again.

Yours sincerely,
