Great place to view all the planes! Kids would love it. There's a toys shop and a cafe on the inside of the building too. Ideal for families with young kids to kill time while waiting for their flights.

Conveniently located in Tokyo, only a 20 minute ride from Shinagawa station. Lots of amenities, gift shops, restaurants etc. Easy access to public transporation.
A good place to watch to plans landing, taxiing and taking off. Includes a good selection of nearby restaurants and an ANA sponsored flight simulator for children.
Even without having the greatest command of the Japanese language there is always great direction and plenty of English to be found at the airport. When I couldn't find my bus the ten people waiting to help me at the information kiosk did just that. They baggage claims each have someone manning them making sure the luggage drops gently onto the conveyor belt and also will help you grab yours if needed. Customs officials are always polite and quick. I never feel lost or confused here because someone is always ready to help me. I enjoy traveling through this airport all the time.
So I had some time to waste, a lot of time, at Haneda. The domestic terminal has a very nice multi-level shopping mall. On the top floor you may gain access to stairways which lead to the most amazing airport observation deck I've ever encountered. Complete with vending machines and panoramic views it's an airline spotters dream.
I stay at Haneda airport at April.
Although the airport is not so big as Narita, it has special Edo themes shop, restaurants, and a big edo style wooden bridge!
The observatory outside at the 5F, you can see the airplanes' landing and departure. Also, you can see the starry sky at the midnight!
It's one of the most beautiful airport in my mind!
