My boyfriend frequently stays at the other Shibuya one, but it was booked for Golden Week so we decided to stay at this one. I was fairly disappointed all in all.

We had to book a smoking room, which isn't first preference but we had limited options and was wishing to save $ by staying at somewhere minimal but convenient. Usually smoking rooms aren't too bad - but this one was HORRIBLE. Located on the 5th floor in front of the elevator - surprisingly quite though! The smell finally left after 3 days of constantly spraying.

The fabric wall was dirty, looked like crusty mayo was on it (or booger! ha), and some of the carpet was tattered. Bed was clean and comfy, and the bathroom also very clean. However I was bummed it was a Western style with a standing shower tub. The washer/dryer machine was extremely new and worked quite well. I was also quite disturbed that on our first morning staying at the hotel we had the DO NOT DISTRUB sign on the door and received some knocks from housecleaning about towels while we were in the shower and they ignored it and OPENED THE DOOR!!!!!!!! My boyfriend had to yell at them to not come in, that there is clearly a sign posted and that we were not in a position to accept their towels! They should have just left them on the door like they did everyone else...sooooo weird.

Location was good, and a Jonathans restaurant next door with several other options down the street - even Family Mart and McDonalds a block or so away and also the JR Shibuya station and the other train station about 10 min walk.

I'd probably never select this spot to save an extra dime, as I was not 100% comfortable due to the stinky room, intrusion of staff, and worn down carpet and weird stuff on wall.

The hotel is located 500M , 5 min walk from the Shibuya Station. So its easy access from Airport if you take the Narita Exp. There is another hotel by the same name, this one has
Shin- minamiguchi, at the end. Its closer to the station . Has a restaurant below for Breakfast, also for other meals, good. Bfast has 4 fixed menu's,PIck One, which I thought was sensible, avoiding waste by display of many items.Excellent Staff.Exceptionally courteous. we asked for a non smoking room, they did not have, so in a smoking room, put in a dehumidifier , sprays etc to reduce the smoke odour. We asked for a check out a day earlier as the sun was to be up at Mt Fuji, a day earlier, so they accepted our plot, and did not charge for the day that we had booked but did not stay.Infact they did assist us in preponing the booking at Kawaguchiko. The MW and other heating accessories and fridge, helped a lot with the child food. Free comp, in the lounge, free WiFi.

Room Tip: Simply go for it, reasonable, food street nearby, close to the station

Chose this hotel because of the location. We had just come from a stay at the Sheraton by Disney so when we pulled up outside, I wasn't very hopeful.

However, I was totally wrong. Yes, it's not the Sheraton but the location is perfect, the rooms were spotlessly clean and the service was friendly and efficient.

There were 6 of us ranging from 82 years to 13 years and we all had an amazing time throughout Japan.

This was the last leg of our tour and I'm happy we spent it at this hotel. I would certainly consider staying here in future.

Enjoy

This hotel is located just outside of the South exit of the Shibuya station (literally 2min walk) so it is extremely easy to get to from the train station. Keep in mind the south exit is the exit opposite of Shibuya crossing which is typically where everyone is trying to head to. Its on the quieter end of Shibuya but still within a 5min walk to all the craziness. This room was larger than average for Tokyo (almost US size) so we were very comfortable with the space. There is a market right next door which made it convenient to grab some snacks in the morning or liquor at night and across the street there was a plethora of really good ramen/katsu/udon restaurants. Price wise, we paid just under $180 a night and we booked extremely last minute. I imagine if you were to book it a little in advance you could get it for a cheaper price. I enjoyed staying a little bit outside of the craziness as it made it easier to get to and from the train station.

After several trips to Tokyo, we decided to stay in Shibuya, my favourite district in this megacity. It’s a very large district and, unfortunately, not that easy to navigate because of the many construction sites you have to circumvent that keep you from walking to where you want to go!

The Tokyu Stay Shibuya Shin-minamiguchi is an easy walk from the Shibuya JR Station minamiguchi (South entrance) gate. Shibuya Station is massive and complicated. You should get a good map of it before you arrive. It serves several train lines and underground lines and there are many gates on several levels. The Shin-minamiguchi side of the station has more office towers than shops. That’s o.k., though, as it is relatively quiet at night. You will feel very safe and surrounded with like-minded people if you find yourself walking back to the hotel late in the evening.

I could live at this hotel! The hotel rooms are about the largest you are going to find in Japan, much less Tokyo, without paying a small fortune. Our room had a kitchenette that included a small fridge, a microwave, one burner (a hob), a large basin (sink) and its own washing machine! There are pots and pans, plates and tea cups, electric kettle, etc. All you need for some light cooking, or at least warming up some takeaway food. Our room had plenty of closet space and drawers to put everything away. The flat screen TV was large (and gets CNN), the bed was comfortable. Best of all, we had our own balcony! It wasn’t large, but we could step out in the evening and look over the Shin-Minamiguchi side of Shibuya, see and hear the trains going by, see the office workers head home and get a sense of what it’s like (sort of) to live in Tokyo.

The hotel is close to a Family Mart. This will prove very useful if you stay awhile. The convenience store is open 24 hours, is spotless and sells a bit of everything at reasonable prices (particularly handy for well-priced beer and wine!).

The Tokyu Stay hotel lobby is functional and pleasant, the staff are professional and attentive. When we asked for assistance with the washing machine, they were very helpful. When you check in, you are given your breakfast vouchers that you use at the small café next door. Breakfast is served from 6:00 am and it’s primarily Japanese breakfast but there are a few things for Westerners, like scrambled eggs and toast.

Ironically, the hotel’s Shibuya location is sort of an issue, at times. As mentioned, the number of construction sites nearby makes navigating a bit tricky. If this isn’t your first trip to Tokyo, you may not find this a problem. Have good maps before you arrive!
