This shrine is a very interesting visit for the history it represents. But added to the history and significance of the shrine is the fact that the grounds are a very pleasant place to stroll. It is worth taking a half day or so out of your schedule in Tokyo to pay a visit. if you are only going to visit one shrine, this is the one to see.

My hotel was in Shibuya for convenience of traveling to various parts of Tokyo to make sales calls. Meiji Jingu was a great escape in the middle of Tokyo for trees, peace and quiet and time to reflect. It was recommended by one of my Japanese co-workers as he knew that I was looking for a quite escape from noisy Shibuya.

A nice break from the hussle and bussle, located near to harijuku. When we went there was aflower festival so the walk to the shrine was lined with stunning flowers. Its a huge complex, and quite a walk to the shrine, but the huge trees that line it make it feel very peaceful. LOved it, and plan to go again

I really enjoyed walking through the woods from the north and happening upon the shrine. Once there, it was interesting and pretty cool.
