I'm not saying that it's a bad place to have sashimi or anything. It's rather ok. For 3 people with 3 big nigiri set + 3 sushi rolls for just under 10,000 Yen is rather cheap. Freshness, I've had better. Pieces are big as well, so value wise it's pretty good. Quality...hmmm...let's just say it's not what I'd expect to have in Japan. Freshness should be first as that's what I'd expect when going for a sushi place in Japan. Anyhow, do get to the restaurant early (we got there at 10:30 AM and there was already a line), as once it gets close to noon time, waiting could be a pain. We got in once they let the customer in never the less. Sushi counter probably sits 12 people. The rest are tables for 4 mostly. I would say it can take 50 customer at once. That's just to give you an idea of the restaurant size. View my picture for more details. Fishes are a little dry for me, and maybe it's me, but the wasabi doesn't have that kick I look forward to nor does it smell extra good.

I decided to have dinner at Midori Sushi after checking on TripAdvisor for the best restaurants near my hotel. I had to wait about 30 mins (5pm Sat eve) but it was well worth it! The busiest sushi restaurant I have ever seen, with 6 chefs behind the bar. I was seated at the bar and my chef spoke very good english. The sushi was some of the best I've ever had, rivaling Sushi-on-the-run in Los Gatos and TomiSushi in MountainView.

Cost is AMAZINGLY cheap! I never go under $50 at sushi restaurants in the SF Bay Area. This dinner, including sake, was Y3000! That's the cost of the buffet breakfast at the hotel!!

In addition, the friendly patrons made for an enjoyable very Japanese experience.

(AKA "Umegaoka Sushi no Midori" or just "Sushi Midori")

So, it's mall sushi. But, it's the best damn sushi I've ever had. Enormous pieces of delicious, fresh fish and other sushi. At low, low prices!

This restaurant doesn't take reservations, and their last order is at 8:30PM. If you get there at 7:30PM, you might not get in because of the 50 people ahead of you. They have a take-out window, but it's obviously not the same.

If you get there early enough, sit at the sushi bar if you want to watch your chef expertly prepare what you ask him for. They have picture menus for all us uncultured gaijin, and you can just point to the stuff you like. The waitress will serve your drinks, and they have both hot and cold sake for you to knock back.

Their website is entirely in Japanese, but there are some great comprehensive English explanations of this restaurant outside TripAdvisor if you look for the first alias I listed above.

Oh, and they accept credit cards!
