“Good hotel in great location in Shibuya”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

Unizo hotel in Shibuya has a nice lobby, very nice and modern. I was in a double room - ie I had a pretty big bed. The bed is very comfortable, the room clean, good bathroom. It is a little on the small side with the double bed (even by Tokyo standards) and my only little gripe was that my room had no wardrobe space at all. A part from that all good, air purifier, Tto toilet, quiet aircon, quiet room despite being in the middle of Shibuya, I would go back and it is great value for money.

Don't have a negative thing to stay about this hotel. I stayed on the "women only" floor while traveling solo in Japan. Yes, the rooms are small -- this is Tokyo, where real estate is at a premium. I live in NYC, so I'm used to it.

The single room worked like a well-tuned Swiss Army knife -- the wall unit housed a TV, a desk, and a closet, in an amazingly minimal amount of space. Gotta love that Japanese design and ingenuity!

Room had a tea kettle and powdered green tea to make in the mornings and featured a fridge that I was able to use to keep yogurt and fruit I would by at the supermarket to eat for breakfast in the morning (for some reason there is no such thing as breakfast or brunch in Japan -- most restaurants don't open until 11am for lunch) -- which was essential, as I often wanted to start early in the day to head to see whatever I was doing that day.

Bathroom was tiny, but again, very efficient in terms of use of space. Had very nice bath soap and lotions.

Again, not that much space in the rooms, but thanks to the long hallway opposite the bathroom, had a big enough space for me to do in-room yoga next to the mirror! Super-cool way to turn on/off the lights -- just drop your room key in the holder by the door! Awesome! Other nice touches were the ring/watch holder on the nightstand, an light controls right by the bed.

Found the floor to be quiet, hardly ever heard anyone else.

I had a Japanese visitor's SIM card delivered to the front desk, and had no problems picking it up from the front desk.

Out of all of the places I stayed in Japan, this was amongst my favorite -- cannot beat the location, and the rates are decent.

Cockroaches in the room and when complained to hotel staff they didn't really seem to care....cleaning standards are not acceptable and the lack of English of hotel staff extremely frustrating. Not recommended.

the location is good, and the rooms are clean. compared with other hotels in tokyo (shibuya excel for example) you get exactly the same room quality but you do miss amazing views and if you, like me, like the overall grandeur feeling of a big hotel, then you will miss this in unizo.
otherwise, very pleasant room, if not a tad too small (yes, i know, i shall not complain about room size while in japan) - no space for big luggage.
sleep quality - over the weekend is was very poor, due to the nearby clubs and kids drinking and shouting all night. ask for the room facing the main street or the very side street.

I did a ton of research on hotels before coming to Tokyo, and was relieved when this hotel turned out to be what I expected. Yes, the room is small (I was in a one bed), but not tiny like some people make it out to be. There was room to walk around the bed. It was very clean, the bed was a double, and two people fit just fine. Hotel is probably not good for a family, but singles and couples.

The area is awesome!! I had a hard time deciding between staying in Shibuya or Roopongi or Shinjuku, but I loooved Shibuya. I felt like I was really experiencing Tokyo. The big "central park"-ish park is less than a mile away (Yoyogi park) and has the Mejii shrine. Walking around Shibuya on Saturday night with all the 20 somethings walking around with the bright signs and music in the air was a pure Tokyo experience and really made the trip for me.

Tip: A cab from the airport bus drop-off to the hotel was $7.00-- just take a cab if you have the funds! I got pretty lost on the curvy streets trying to find the place. Cabs in Japan are no more expensive than in the U.S.
This hotel is good for people on a budget, in a great area, and clean. I would stay there again. Only con is that the front desk did not speak hardly any English...but I guess that can be expected in a non-English speaking country :-)

We chose Unizo because of its proximity to the park, travelling with a young child. It's a great location and a great hotel.

The hotel is close enough to the sights of Shibuya but is also tucked away to some extent, allowing for a peaceful stay. There are plenty of cafes and bars around for breakfast options, too.

Shibuya in general is an excellent option for staying in Tokyo, and with kids especially. Plenty to see and do, with easy access to the Yamamote line that links many tourist options and shinkansen routes.

Staff are polite and helpful, and the room is clean and well tended. Yes it's a bit on the small side, but this is Tokyo, and it's enough for our needs. A hairdrier, kettle and toiletries are provided along with - more importantly - free wifi. The bed is comfortable.

The only slight negative is that we are staying on floor 9 and the windows open. While they have opening restrictors, a child could probably slip through (we haven't tested this).

Overall, an excellent stay and we would return to this hotel.

I was there only for 2 nights in a business trip but it was great to stay in such modern hotel and still in the heart of Tokyo near Shibuya station where you can find EVERYTHING just in a walking distance. We are planning to have another meeting in few months and definitely will recommend it.

Room Tip: All the rooms are too small so better to ask for a King/Queen sized bed for better sleep.
