“Very good choice”
Reviewed 8 November 2012

I stayed five nights in this hotel and it was a good choice. Comfortable rooms, nice staff. Location is great, close to subway stations and Shibuya station, excellent shops and restaurants. Be sure to check if you got a good pillow, if not you can get extra ones in the second floor, but don't go there too late, it will be empty by the evening. Breakfast is not very western. TV doesn't have international channels.

After staying in Tokyo last weekend I would highly recommend this hotel. Firstly, it is in a great location, very central to the main shopping area and close to the JL and Metro but just tucked back from the main road to make it a nice quiet location (no noisy cars to keep you awake at night!).
The rooms are small by Western standards but very well designed and spotlessly clean. The public areas are all tastfully decorated and we got the added bonus of having breakfast included within the price which is a massive bonus in Tokyo as it's a very expensive city to eat and drink in. We managed to find a good deal via one of the booking agents, paying around £90 per night, which is relatively cheap for such a central location in a major city.
Would definitely stay again.

Great great place. Not cheap (c.£100 /niight?) but nowhere is in Tokyo & this is worth it. Fantastic spot to hang out & the best part of Tokyo imho - Shibuya is simply great

Awesome breakfast, great rooms & happy times... the concierge wasnt great (& had an annoying accent!) but he was doing his best.

Top place!

My boyfriend and I just returned from a 9 night stay at the Dormy Inn and can say it definitely lives up to the good reviews. One of the best things about the hotel is the location, right in between Shibuya and Harajuku, with only a 5 minute walk to either station. It's located down a side street, but not hard to find at all. The area is full of amazing shops and places to eat all within walking distance.

The staff at the front desk were very pleasant and went out of there way to be helpful even with limited English. The front desk is open 24 hours, which is very convenient if you arrive from a late flight like we did.

We stayed in a queen room which was just big enough for both of our suitcases. The room was immaculate. The bed was nice and big and we chose our pillows from the pillow library on the second floor. They provide two free bottles of water daily. Breakfast is included along with noodles at night. They also have a coffee/hot chocolate machine in the lobby. There is free wifi in the rooms and the lobby, along with two computers and a printer for guests to use. Everything in the hotel is brand new.

There really is nothing not to like about the Dormy Inn and I couldn't imagine a better location to stay in Tokyo.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room at the rear of the building near the train tracks and could hear the trains go p...

We just checked out of the Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya (Jungumae) this past Sunday after a 10 day stay, and we couldn't of been happier with the experience. The location was excellent for our needs, (we were in town covering Tokyo Fashion Week, and the hotel is a short walk to the main location of Hikarie Hall) but also excellent for anyone wanting great starting point for touring Tokyo. Close to both Harujuku and Shibuya shopping areas, and very close to several subway stations I think it would be hard to find a better location on this price point. The staff was super nice, and very accommodating with my strange daily requests that they look for incoming mail for me. (My Japanese is terrible and I could only say "tegami??" and point to the mailbox.) Our room was very clean, and well kept. Yes the room was small and without much storage compared to more western hotel, we really had no problem managing even with a longer stay. Free wifi in the lobby, and multiple power outlets at the main table was a dream for editing photos after the shows, and the included breakfast helped get us out the door and to the runways easily in the morning. Thank you everyone at the Dormy Inn for making our stay great, we will definitely comeback next season!

Room Tip: We stayed in the 6th ( top floor) and didn't hear the train, lower floors might experience some...

This was my first time in Tokyo and was uncertain where to stay. I went by previous reviews of the Dormy Inn and was not disappointed. I would stay here again as the location, service and price are great.

Pros:

Superb staff
Complimentary breakfast, evening noodles and cappuccino machine
Free wire-less internet (Free computers available also in the lobby)
Use of on-site onsen (sauna and hot-tub) included in room rate
Conveniently located in Harajuku near hundreds of restaurants, stores and metro line.
Extremely clean and tidy
Very nice toiletries
No shortage of hot water in shower
Reasonable rates for a Tokyo hotel
Wide selection of pillow types

Cons:

Very small rooms (apparently standard for Japan)
No English TV channels in the room
No in-room safe
A bit of train noise can be heard if you are on the train rail side (nothing really majour and the trains stop at midnight)
Mattresses are a bit hard
No fitness centre

Note: The Dormy Inn may be a bit difficult to find as it is tucked away on a side street. Do your research and look for the signs on the streets!

Room Tip: May wish to look for a room away from the train tracks. Some floors allow smoking in smoking areas.

This hotel is a perfect base for exploring Tokyo - the location is central. It is in between Harajuku metro and Shibuya station (both about 5-10 mins walk from hotel). Yoyogi Park is just a 15 minute walk away. The staff at the hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful with adequate English to communicate with us. The rooms were clean but on the smaller side (to be expected in Tokyo). The walk-in shower was brilliant. The free noodles in the evening and free internet were great additions. Would definitely stay here again. Only negative the breakfast was a little unusual for Western tastes.
