This restaurant is located on the 13th floor of Takashimaya Times Square in Shinjuku, so it's an easy place to find and get to. We arrived for a (fairly) late weeknight dinner at around 8 PM. The waitress informed us that we had to wait for an additional 30 minutes before a table opened up, but she was very polite about it. The restaurant itself was moderately sized and extremely clean.
But the food (and the amount) was the main star. The waitress' English was not very good - and we had a difficult time understanding the menu, so we inadvertently ordered a combination set at 2890 yen for each person. When we originally ordered, we thought it was 2890 yen total for both people. Nevertheless, the food that followed still made up for the 5780 yen (app. $58 USD) price.
We were served course after course. The first dish was a rice porridge. The second looked like some sort of pan fried pancake containing flour, onions, etc., which was extremely delicious and not overly oily. This was my favorite dish. The third was an assortment of various standard Korean appetizers like kimchi, bean sprouts, eggplant, spicy potato, etc. The third was a dish I had never seen at a Korean restaurant before which was a lettuce/veggie wrap of nicely done bulgogi beef. By that time, we were full. But then another course of stone bowl rice and veggies (and egg) came. And then a tofu soup, both of which were excellent. We couldn't finish it all and we truly thought we were done. But for the final course, we received dessert of a cake (which was OK).
The portions for nearly all items were extremely large and it really could have fed three people. Food-wise, I would give the restaurant 4.4/5, but the value was just extreme. At 5760 yen for two, it's a bargain in Tokyo. Perhaps the best value in all of Tokyo during our week there. There was also a magician making the rounds entertaining people at various tables, so if you have kids, that's probably a nice touch. The only thing I think they can improve on is perhaps waiters/waitresses that speak better English, but then again, it's a foreign country and that's probably not the most reasonable demand.
