Uobei Shibuya (of Genki Sushi) is a novel, fun, excellent-value take on sushi trains. Rather than sit around a train with dishes just waiting to be grabbed, you sit at a bar with three tracks of conveyor belts in front of you and a smart pad featuring the menu, waiting for your order. You can order up to three dishes at once, and they come out pretty quickly. It's a really fun way to order and receive your food.

The real stand out thing about Uobei is this:

105. Yen. Per. Dish.

This is a bargain, people. A lot of places we visited in Japan were friendly to the wallet, but this takes the cake. Value rarely gets this good. For those Japanese-cuisine-connoisseurs, they do have a range of more specialised dishes on the menu which cost a bit more, but most of the menu is just 105 yen a plate. And it's a reasonably big menu at that. My only wish is that they had a few more vegetarian options - i felt they had less in that area than other sushi trains i've been to.

Bottom line - if you're on a budget, want a different sushi train experience, or just need a quick meal in Shibuya, you NEED to check out Uobei Genki Sushi.

This is a really fun, cheap, quick and convenient way to eat. Way better than a sushi train because everything is made fresh as you order. The variety of dishes is broad and there's lots to choose from no matter your taste (kids included). Kids and adults alike will love the novelty of the ordering and delivery system! Green tea and water is free, other drinks very reasonably priced. No, the quality of the sushi is not the best you'll find in Tokyo, but it is completely fine. Highly recommended eating experience!

The sushi quality is OK and it's cheap so if you're looking for a different restaurant experience, than this is a good option if you're in Shibuya.
The way it works is that you sit down at a bar-counter facing three layers of tracks with a touch screen above your head. You place the orders on the touch screen and wait for your sushi to arrive via the track. Once received, you hit a button to return the tray. There are no people involved what-so-ever. The chefs are in some room not visible to the guests. The touch screens are in multiple languages so it's easy for everyone to figure out.
I really enjoyed the novelty of watching the sushi fly-by on the tracks while I waited for my own food to arrive. Felt like I was in the future.

Equipped with high tech systems, you get your perfect dinner at this restaurant by conveyor belts. The restaurant serves an amazing range of tasty sushi and desserts at unbelievably affordable prices. If you are new to Japan and are craving a true Japanese sushi train then this is the restaurant to visit. You also have a chance to have a go at several specials available. If you are a foreigner don’t worry about language as English is the language of business here. The restaurant is very clean and very pleasant to spend an evening.

This is no doubt a fun place to visit--high tech and new. From a local's point of view though, quality of sushi is only so-so to poor. Fish pieces are flesh but very tiny and thin. Rice is too vinegary and has a distinctive feel of machine made. Selection is limited, too. It's just a cheap sushi shop with fun new things to try. I'd probably never go back there.
