“Perfect place for 1st visit!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

We couldn't have found a better hotel to stay at than Sakura for our first trip to Tokyo! Tokyo is an expensive city with my husband and me not wanting to spend $$$. Through trip advisor we found Sakura in the heart of Shibuya, walking distance from metro, restaurants and the Shibuya crossing.
Reasons why this place is great:
1. Very warm and helpful staff (they speak English fluently and will go out of their way to help)
2. 5 minute walk to Metro stations (this is key for getting through Tokyo)
3. 5 minute walk to shopping district, restaurants and bars
4. Very very reasonable for Tokyo standards
5. Free water and WIFI!!!
6. Clean!!!! (Most places in Tokyo are clean but you never know)

Things that might get in way of some tourists:
1. A small or bridge to get to the other side of street. (This is typically not a problem while touring, but when you arrive your hotel after 14hr flight, the last thing you want to do is haul your luggage over a bridge)
2. Not an easy walk from the metro station while checking in or checking out (Goes back to the 1st point, you might want to consider taking a taxi from train station unless you have a small backpack)
3. Very small rooms, specifically the bathroom. (This is typically the case at most places in Tokyo, but between my husband, me and the luggage the room felt very cramped and we got the bigger room!!!!)

Overall, unless you want spend a significant amount of time in your hotel room for work or family, Sakura Fleur Aoyama is the perfect hotel in Shibuya!!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the walkway bridge, this way you will have a window!

the room was good enough for us. ( But we 5'2 and husband is 5'5) and I was born in Mexico so I am use to small spaces ;) Our room was always clean. The personnel is always smiling and attentive. the location is awesome for the price. everything is in walking distance. even though is close to the main roads the hotel is really quiet.

Rooms are very small but it's very clean, very quiet, and it's in a great location. It's really close to Shibuya. The small space does take a little getting used to but if you're out and about all day, it doesn't really matter. The shower was super - really powerful. And wifi was great - included in the price and never went down.

The location is perfect because 10 minutes by foot and you are in the middle of everything, many restaurants, nights clubs, departments stores and many convenients stores too, the room is average size in Asia, clean and they give you shampoo that is for hands, body and face lol...

Pros: Price was great for Shibuya and location was no more than 10min walk from the Hatchiko statue. Hotel has Starbucks and convenience store next door and we loved eating at the Matsuya Japanese fast food restaurant across the street which was cheap and delicious. Room was quiet, bed was fine, we slept well.
Cons: Nothing happening around this location, must walk 5-10mins to get to any action. Room smelled slightly of smoke though staff says hotel is 100% non-smoking. I was not a fan of the victorian decor but the misses thought it was cute.

Pros:

Location about 5-10 walk to Shibuya station and Shibuya scramble
Price is reasonable for Tokyo
Rooms are decorated in a retro Victorian style, typical of quirky Shibuya, complete with pink toilet paper. Husband didn't care for the décor though.
Lots of free amenities at front desk -- razors, hair clips and bands, wash poofs, etc.

Cons:

Nothing stunning about it, just a decent hotel near the heart of it all in Shibuya
Bed is hard for a Westerner but that is probably typical of Japanese beds

Making Shibuya as a Tokyo home base was a great idea. We love the vibe of the city, the location of the hotel, and the overall convenience of being near the Shibuya station (which was a pretty great station). The hotel has an old-world charm with very feminine accents, and vintage feel. If that is not to your liking, and prefer traditional, more modern rooms, stay away. I think the place is very clean. The best part was the helpful staff. They speak really good English, and was incredibly helpful when my sister was injured in one of our trips outside. They accommodated her needs such as ice, some medicine, and was very helpful in any means possible. They offer lots of free amenities such as bottled water, hairbands and accessories (for using during bath), combs, sachets of other toiletries, etc. The room wasn't as tiny as the other room we had in Kyoto.
