I am a Mexican from Mexico City. And i completely disagree with most of the reviews, but this restaurant is the best Mexican food restaurant that you can find in all Asia, And I have been in all of Asia or most of it, and i have try the Mexican restaurants around as a part of my research before open my own in.
The food was excellent, just like in Mexico. it just taste like in Mexico and I am so proud to say so, since that this, like many other in Japan, even in Fukoka, the Mexican food is excellent, and it is some thing that really appreciate from the japanese people, is that they really spend time in Mexico, at least three years, as the owner from the restaurant in Fukoka told me. And the lady owner in "La Fonda de la Madrugada" speak fluent spanish after she spend also more that two years living in Mexico, and all the staff in the restaurant are Mexican, waitress, cook and the musicians. And the best part was that the day i was there at least was completely full of eaters, all of them were Japanese, except for me. The food was just like in Mexico, the tortillas were amazingly identical as in Mexico. and Chilly sauce were fresh and with good taste. the guacamole was fresh and smooth with a bit of lemon juice and chilly.
Believe me, if you really looking for the real mexican taste in asia, Japan has it.
Regarding the price, well, some said that it is to expensive for a Mexican food, Mexican food is not very cheap as it is considered an international food as well as French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Thai. considering that the prices in Japan are not very cheap as well. Te quality was excellent, just like all the food in Japan.
In the other hand, I am fan of the Japanese food and I didn't notice that Japanese flavor in the Mexican dishes at all as some one mention earlier.
So, if you are in Japan or you are Japanese and you are looking for a very authentic Mexican food in Japan, this is probably the best, There was an other restaurant called "El Borracho", but I am not sure if it still on.

The food was decent. The serving of salsa was tiny and to get more costs you about $9! That causes a head shake when you are from Texas. But, hey, this is Japan, go with the flow. I ordered beef tacos. They were good, but they don't taste like Mexican tacos. They had an odd, Japanese flavored sauce on them. Good, but not Mexican.

The meal was expensive, for what it was, more than the $15-20 that is set on tripadvisor.

The worst part about it? We stepped out of the restaurant and one block away was a festival serving the best smelling noodles ever. Too bad we had filled up on "Mexican" food.

Great atmosphere, live music, fun, authentic food, huge range of Margueritas...what more do you need for a good Mexican?
