Stayed here for ten nights in August, and it was a delight!

The rooms are slightly small, but it is Japan. The room was equipt with a comfortable bed, desk and TV, side table with safe, chair, and an area in the hallway with shelving, storage and (best of all! An empty fridge). Bathroom had a deep plunge bath with overhead shower.

Service was fine, all needs and questions catered to swiftly and with ease.

Location is excellent. Right off Golden Gai and 8 mins from Shinjuku JR. As it is so busy and BIG, we tended to use the smaller Shinjuku sanchome station for local trips.

The red light district does.surround it, but it is safe, and you can pretty much avoid it if you take the back way to the hotel, with a lovely paved and well-lit winding path.

WiFi was free but could be spotty. Certainly not unusable.

A Lawson convenience shop is right below the hotel, perfect for drinks and breakfasts.

A lovely, clean, modern hotel in a really solid location. Makes a perfect base for exploring Tokyo. Would return.

Chose this because of the Best Western name and reasonable rate. As with most hotels in Tokyo, the rooms are small but very clean and comfortable. Bathroom has an automated Japanese toilet with heated seat. Great location, with a 24-hour Lawson convenience store right beside and mere steps to shops, cafes, restaurants and metro/train stations.

The breakfast buffet that comes with the room is ample, with miso soup and select Japanese dishes provided as well as a full Western spread of the usual eggs, sausage, breads, cereal and yogurt. Pay attention to breakfast hours, which vary from weekend to weekday. My first day was on a Sunday so breakfast was served till 10:30 AM. I assumed it was the same the next day and arrived a little past 10 to find the restaurant closed - breakfast is only until 10 AM on weekdays! Had to find a cafe outside to eat - bummer.

Overall this no-frills hotel is not a place to hang out in but use as a base to explore Shinjuku and the rest of Tokyo.

Room Tip: Chose a double but the bed was kind of small (similar to a full-size bed). If you're a couple t...

We have just come back from a wonderful stay at this hotel. Being nervous about visiting Japan this hotel made our experience wonderful. From the clean and large room with 3 king single beds, to the supplies in the bathroom, and the Buffet breakfast this hotel ticked all the boxes. The location was also wonderful as Shijuku has everything that is needed to have a great holiday. The station is a few minutes away and with the train you can go to any part of Tokyo as well as other areas of Japan . The people that worked at the hotel were lovely and although they did not speak a lot of English they tried to understand our requests. Thank you Best Western what a brilliant hotel you have.

We stayed here for a couple nights during our japan trip. The location was great with lots of bars and places to eat . Not too far of a walk from JR station . It's by a mister donut like others have said so look for it when you are looking for the hotel .
The rooms are ok . They are clean , bathrooms are small but nice but the bedrooms may need some updating . We were on a business class floor .
Breakfast was also ok , decent options of western and asian options , if you can't use your breakfast vouchers you can use it at the Lawson's store downstairs .
There is also a English pub close to the hotel that had great food .
Overall a good hotel but nothing fancy just good value for what you pay and a great location .

This is a competently run hotel and is not a bad option provided you aren't planning to spend much time in it, as a crash-pad it is adequate. That's just what I used it as on a recent trip to Tokyo, and it sufficed, but don't expect anything special here. I will say that the staff on reception were all very nice.

room was clean and modern. Bathroom was the best part. But the room was small, even for a Tokyo hotel room. The double bed was smaller than a normal double bed and there was a small sofa, which took up the rest of the room. Nice view of Shinjuku, though. The free breakfast was very good, bacon and eggs and fresh breads. It's not exactly far from Shinjuku Station, but it's a good hike. Between the station and the hotel you will encounter lots of African men who promise you beautiful Japanese women for the evening, or even just to take you to a nice bar. Do not go with them. Look it up online. Shinjuku is famous for a dangerous scam where these guys take you to a bar, drug you, and you wake up with your credit cards maxed out, no cash, and sick as a dog. That said, they are not very pushy and if you wave them off and keep walking you will be fine. We had no problems with them. It did not make us like the hotel or area less. I took off one star only because the room was so small for the price. Next time we will probably look for a hotel in Shubuya because the shopping and dining are better there.

Room Tip: it was expensive for such a small room, deluxe double

This was my second stay at BW Shinjuku Astina hotel. Ever since I first visited Tokyo 2012 I've dreamt of coming back and since I was very pleased last time with this hotel I chose it again. This time we had an executive room located on the 13th floor. It was 27m2 and had twinbeds each 120cm x 200cm. The executive floor/ rooms have some extras not included in standard floor/rooms such as morning newspapers ( hanging on the doorknob every morning) and plush bathrobes. Also special shampoo set ( from Algotherm, and smelling lovely) , new toothbrushes daily, razors, combs, facial creams and cleaners etc.
There are an executive lounge , but don't expect to much. It's more of a meeting room but there's a drinkmachine and you can get hot and cold drinks( coffee, sodas) for free. I'll include a picture so you can see.
Free wifi and it works well.
Nice helpfull staff. Do use the restrooms at the reception and be amazed :) The bathroom in the room is great too.
The breakfast was included in our booking. The coffee is great and the breakfast is fresh but it's nothing to write home about. You can choose to exchange your breakfast coupon for a 500 yen voucher that you can use at the Lawson downstairs. they have loads of foods and drinks.
The location of this hotel is amazing. You have bars, restaurants, shops, metro, trains and entertainment on your doorstep. Yes it's in the red light district but never once were we approched or bothered of anyone. You feel totaly safe at all times!
Don't miss the Golden Gai bar area behind the hotel. It's a lot of fun and a chance to connect to the locals and other tourists. They take a covercharge of about 500 yen to sit down, you get some snacks or a bowl of food for that price and the drinks/beer is about 500 yen each. Best bartime ever!
Last time we avoided taking taxis since we heard it was so expensive but it's not, at least not compaired to swedish prices! They start at 750 yen and you can go far for that before it starts ticking up. For exampel the hotel to Hilton ,total cost 750 yen! The hotel to Harajuku 1500 yen and we were a party of 4 splitting the fee.
We also took a taxi to the airport. The NEX and Limousine buss was about 3500 yen pp. Total cost of taxi for 4 with a LOT of luggage 21000 yen, with less luggage it would have been 18000. Only about 1000 yen more pp for not having to drag siutcases to the station ,down stairs and onboard the train. (When we arrived to Narita we took the NEX , they have a promotion for arriving visitors only 1500 yen pp )
I hope to come back to Tokyo soon, I LOVE this city and I'll stay at the BW Shinjuku Astina next time for sure!

Room Tip: If you want extra space and larger beds, go for the executive rooms!
