“Good choice for Shinjuku”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

Pretty good choice for anyone staying in Shinjuku. The room is small, but typical for a Japanese hotel. The staff were great with English. They'll keep your bags for you if you need to check in or check out early, which is really nice.

The WiFi signal isn't the strongest, but it was really nice to have. Location is great. 8 minutes from Shinjuku station, right in between East and West exit.

IMPORTANT - My Expedia confirmation stated that check in starts at 11AM. THIS IS WRONG. Check in is at 3PM.

We stayed there for 6 nights and we enjoyed it! We have two people so they gave us a room with two single beds, the washroom is clean and the staff are very kind. I liked the location because it is very close to the station and although the area is known as the "red light district" I felt safe for two girls to walk back to the hotel at night. There is a police station nearby, and a convenient store!

It got really small rooms. We have three people going and wanted to upgrade our room to fit us all but their rooms are so small that we have to have two rooms instead. But they have got everything in that small room, modern tv, fridge, heater, the bathroom is very clean. Great for its price

If you don't spend a lot of time in your room, it is hard to beat the value of the Shinjuku Vintage.

You get access to Japan's (the world's?) busiest train station for convenient access to the rest of Tokyo, and you have access to the exciting Shinjuku area.

The only drawback is that the rooms are very, very small. Other then that, they are clean and the staff are very courteous (but note, they barely speak English, though this is common everywhere in Tokyo).

They could improve the value by not making people pay if they want more than two channels (or even one English channel). Feels like getting nickel and dimed.

Also, there is no wifi, but they include free Internet via a network cable. I brought my iPad so I was out of luck. They should get wifi!

It's a simple hotel in Kabukicho. Great location for me as I used to live in the area and many of my friends live close by. Yes, it's the "red-light" district, but unless you're going to a bar in the area (which I would not recommend unless you have a Japanese person with you who knows the score), it's quite safe and you don't have to worry much about being "taken".

To be honest, the only thing I would warn non-Japanese clients about is that like most Japanese hotels, the windows in the rooms here do not open. If you're there during the winter, this hotel does not have year round air conditioning and again, like most Japanese buildings they are very warm inside. Oppressively so.

I could not get a good night sleep because I was so hot - and the smell of cigarette smoke combined with the heat was horrible.
There is an airconditioning unit (split system) in the room, but it does not cool in the winter months.

If you stay during the summer, it probably would not be an issue, but I'd never stay there in the winter again.

Aside from this issue, the rate was reasonable and like most Japanese business hotels, the room was small but not capsule sized. Unlike some hotels, this one was clean. If you are a non-smoker be sure to ask for a non-smoking room, but be prepared to still smell some cigarette smoke as many hotels in Japan that have non-smoking rooms don't actually restrict smokers from using them.

It's in a very accessible location, approx 20 mins from Shinjuku station. Located on most maps, which was very helpful. Breakfast was included in our stay (I believe this is common) which was another bonus. The only drawback is that the beds were hard and the room was very small (although this is common for Japan). We were woken one night by some party-ers who were playing around in the basketball court across from us and their screams/laughs were echoing all over the place. Only happened one night though. Otherwise, a good place to say while in Shinjuku :)
