“Good location, ok stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

The hotel looks fine from the outside and the reception area was clean - however there was a constant smell of sewers in the lobby. However the smell wasn't in our room. The reception staff were helpful and breakfast was good at the hotel. However, there was a lot of noise from the street until late, and then a LOT of noise very early in the morning which we guessed was from garbage removal. It was a good location with a train station nearby and easily walkable to the center of shinjuku (although harder with backpacks on). The hotel itself and the location were fine, just noisy.

Stayed here for a week and it served as an excellent base for exploring Tokyo. Two main train stations within 5 min walking of the hotel, made it a good location for those visiting the city .Very clean rooms and bedding and towels were refreshed daily. Fried breakfast was served each morning in the cafe.plenty of restaurants within close proximity of the hotel. All at reasonable rates

I feel bad giving this place a low rating as it does have a few things going for it. The staff were friendly and professional. The location is very close to Shin Okubo station which is on the main Tokyo JR loop line (Yamanote line). You can get a really cheap breakfast for 500 yen. It is a budget hotel yet the staff will carry your suitcases up and down from reception for you, smiling the whole time (there is a lift from reception to the rooms).

The problem was that we stayed for 8 nights and the beds were so uncomfortable that we got almost no sleep. It wasn't just the beds - the pillows were like little rocks. We called and asked for a different pillow but they didn't have any. There is literally one pillow per person per bed. No cushions or anything else. We eventually went to a department store and bought our own cushions. We've never had to do anything like this before and believe me I'm not that fussy. But my back was so sore it was simply awful. We were there with our 2 kids and had a queen and a double. The queen bed only had a 'double' doona. So in addition to being uncomfortable, we were often cold. This tarnished our time in Tokyo somewhat. I couldn't recommend this place for this reason.

The second problem - and this isn't really the hotel's fault - was that the room across the hall had a screaming child who screamed all hours of the night for around 4 nights in a row. But I guess you could say the walls were a bit thin as we couldn't block this noise out.

Finally, from my husband's point of view - the bathroom was too small. The shower is in the bath, which is fine for me, but the ceiling above the bath was at two levels and he had to duck on an angle in the shower as he was too tall (he's about 5' 11", maybe 6'). And he also struggled to fit on the toilet without banging against the wall.

This was the first hotel on our first trip to Japan. Since we planned our trip relatively late during high season (April), we had limited hotel choices and this was one of four hotels we stayed in during our 7 night trip. For comparison, the other hotels were Tokyo Hilton (Shinjuku), Kyoto Hokke Club, and Tokyo Prince Hotel (Minato). We took the Airport Limousine bus to Shinjuku Station, then a taxi to the hotel, arriving 8 pm for a one night stay. TripAdvisor reviews were pretty accurate in all respects. Check-in was easy with staff speaking minimal English. The room and especially the bathroom were smaller than expected. The beds were comfortable. The next morning, we found several choices for breakfast within a few hundred feet. After a Japanese breakfast, we found a place called Casa where we enjoyed Latte and Cappuccino with free refills for 190 JPY. Wish we had more time to explore the area (Korean Town) though would not have looked forward to staying at the hotel multiple nights. During checkout, when we asked about catching a cab, the lady walked us down to the street, hailed a cab, and told the driver our destination. Very gracious and uncalled for. In general, the hotel is nicely priced, in a convenient location, comfortable without frills, probably best suited for younger couples and friends.

Stayed 2 nights and went to Disneyland hotel for 1 night and back for another night before leaving Tokyo. Wanted to leave baggage there and bring back pack for the 1 night stay at Disneyland but they would only allow 1 luggage per room to be left with them. Forced to take the rest of the luggage around.
Even an extra pillow was hard to get.
Location is good. Very near to metro stations.
If you are taking train to Narita airport, take the Okubo station as there is lift there, no need to carry your luggage up the stairs as in Shin Okubo station.
Supermarket is right below the hotel. Plenty of restaurants around. There is a sushi restaurant opposite to right of the hotel. Very cheap and yummy especially during happy hours. Yen120 (USD1.30) for a crab miso soup. Yen120 to 180 for sushi.
Level 6 has a small room for hot/cold water, microwave and smoking zone.

This hotel is no 5 star, but adequate for our needs. The room was very small, but with a bit of juggling we managed.
It's very close to 2 metro stations so very convenient. The staff are very helpful, and friendly.
There is no lift to the reception but there is only 1 flight of stairs which wasn't too much trouble.
All the toiletries including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hairbrush, toothbrush and razor are supplied and topped up daily.
The hotel was very clean and our room on the 5th floor was quiet.
If you want space don't go but it was fine for us.

We stayed here for 10 nights ,used as a base as we were visiting my daughter who lives quite near.
The Staff were very courteus, friendly and helpful.
The room was not very big but space is at a premium in Tokyo so we were expecting that.
Breakfast was perfectly adequate and tasty.
Situated very close to two train stations.
All in all we enjoyed our stay here and would definately recommend!

Room Tip: we were on the fifth floor which was fine, there is a smoking room on the six floor.
