This is a large discount tempura chain. They claim to have condensed the experience of top tempura chefs into a tempura cooking machine. I believe it. One unusual aspect is that rather than a dipping sauce, they pour the sauce over the tempura and rice. The sauce seems darker and slightly stronger flavored than the dipping sauces I'm use to. But it works very well. Tempura was delicious. My wife wanted to eat there again but there are so many places to try that we didn't make it back.
I know enough Japanese to be able to ask questions and understand simple responses. When you ask for recommendations for tempura restaurants, lots of responses mention Tenya and delicious together. You can get good tempura for less than $10. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Don't expect the staff to be able to speak or understand English but the menu has pictures.
A lot of the restaurants we went to - even the small Mom and Pop type places had English menus.
