“Really good hotel, absolutely flawless”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2013

In short: A very good 5* hotel, didn't find any flaws (except maybe it's not directly located in the city center). If you go to Tokyo, stay there. Service is outstanding.

The details.

We stayed at the beginning of April in the Park Hyatt Tokyo. It's located near Shinjuku, which is mostly like a business area, so there isn't much to do at Shinjuku itself, but the Shinjuku Station is one of the biggest stations and therefore very well connected to nearly everything in Tokyo. Walking to the station is a bit long, but they have a free shuttle bus running every 20 minutes to and from the hotel. If you're arriving at Shinjuku and you want to use the bus, get very detailled information in advance which exit to take and where to you, otherweise you won't find the bus (guranteed). Taxi ride is also possible and costs about 600 Yen.

The hotel is located in the upper floors of a tall building, they'll give you a warm welcome at the entrance and you'll take the elevator to the upper floors (40+). The hotel is very stylish and quiet. Check-in is quite fast and very personal.

We stayed in room 4812, which is a park view king corner room with view to Mt. Fuji. I can highly recommend this room, spacious, nice bathroom (only minor flaw: no floor heating in the bathroom). Room service is absolutely awesome, no matter at what time you leave the room, they'll clean it up fast. Service is outstanding, they'll put you power cords in the room if they see you've got lots of laptop charger stuff. The cleaning staff accidentially catched Apple Earpods with the vaccum cleaner - before we even noticed after returning to our room, they delivered us a brand new pair with some apologies to the room.

The bar and the restaurant feature stunning views. Restaurant was really good and more affordable than you might think, even though they didn't manage to cook our tuna steak correctly within two attempts. But basically price and quality is really good and the view is priceless. Also don't miss to take a swim in the pool. Awesome view. Little flaw: They charge you for the Sauna, which shouldn't be the case at this price point.

So service, room, design, everything is outstanding, worth the price and highly recommended there. As already said, the location isn't perfect if you want to use public transportation. Going by taxi isn't a problem, there are always plenty of cabs in front of the door at any time, we never had to wait for one.

Conclusion: If you go to Tokyo, stay there.

Room Tip: Get a room with view to Mt Fuji. We had corner park deluxe #4812.

We recently stayed at the Park Hyatt Tokyo. Everything about this hotel is world class. The greeting on arrival is warm and friendly, the staff are all extremely helpful and go out of their way to ensure guests are well looked after. The hotel is large but still manages to have a "boutique" feel about it. The rooms are superb, the views stunning and the food is excellent. If only all the hotels we stay in could be as good. Well done Park Hyatt Tokyo.

We stayed in a suite, having been upgraded. It faced Mt Fuji and we were treated wonderfully. The room was huge and a real delight. It is the details that make the Park Hyatt a memorable experience. We stayed 4 days and each day we discovered wonderful surprises. For us the most wonderful part of our time at the Park Hyatt was the service. If you force me to say something you should be careful of, the New York Grill is pricey.. especially if you have wine and we would loved more tea bags (although after mentioning this the operations manager told me my file has been updated with this perference). Simply outstanding hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Mt Fuji

This place is wonderful. On request, the room was as high as available on the 49th floor, facing west to Mount Fuji visible alongside the sunset. Brilliant.
The hotel is all you'd expect for the stars allocated. No wonder they chose it for Lost in Translation. Pity not to bump into Scarlett in the lift though.
Nothing more to say really. Fantastic.

Room Tip: High as you can on the western side.

Everything here was amazing and their expensive rates are totally justified. My highlights:

The room was huge. It had a walk-in wardrobe, a separate shower/bath/toilet room. Lovely artwork and a TV in front of the bath with a preloaded channel playing relaxing music with beautiful scenery. There was also a mini lounge and a desk.

Amenities were fantastic - Violet bath salts, dressing gowns, kimono, slippers, hairbrushes, toothbrushs, surplus of towels, designer cosmetics, free bottled water.

Service was also attentive. They take your bags to your room whilst you check in, they even noticed us leave in the evening and snuck in to replace any towels we had used, fold our clothes and make our beds.

The view is out of this world. Huge panoramic windows in every room, on at least the 42nd floor. Our room was a few floors directly below the famous New York Bar, so we had a great view.

Free cover charge for residents at the bar. Go and enjoy free Jazz after 9 or 10pm.

The Spa is incredible. Massage etc was very overpriced, but the pool and gym are wonderful, and located on the 47th floor. I was on a sunlounger, using free wifi, drinking tea whilst looking over the city from the 47th floor. What more do you want?

The breakfast was average though, and this was disappointing. Not much choice and it didn't seem to be cooked well. It was nothing compared to the breakfast at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

I feel like I got amazing value out of this stay. The view, spa and free bar access were worth the stay alone. Go on and treat yourself to a night or two, it will make your trip extra special.

Room Tip: We had a 'deluxe' room... not sure if that is standard. We booked a weekday retreat package...

Perfect hotel, near shinjuku station, walking distance. Everything is really good in the hotel, if not perfect.
Try the gym and aswell, if you want a nice table up in the new york grill restaurant, reserve as soon as you get there!
You pay, but its worth it

Room Tip: Choose a City view, its hard to actually see mount fuji with the mount fuji room view

Beautiful hotel, a few check in issues with their card machine not reading our credit card (their fault). After a long flight with 2 small children I cracked and insisted we go to our room, which was prepaid anyway so the kids could go to sleep. They obliged and the matter had been sorted out by the time we went down next morning. Rooms are large and very well appointed. We were promised a view of Mt Fuji which didn't happen and when we were paying a fortune for two adjoining rooms I thought this to be quite an oversight. Don't get any laundry done - it cost me $170 AUD to get 5 tshirts washed. Having to pay to go in the pool is an outrage at the price you pay per night. Restaurants nice but way overpriced much better to head out into Shinjuki and taste the local fair which is delicious and reasonably priced. Great hotel but not sure the price tag is worth it - many hotels close to this level with half the cost but something to be done at least once when in Tokyo.
