“Small quiet rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2014

Positive:
Super fast WIFI due to own Router in the room. Friendly and helpful staff. Room gets cleaned everyday around 12 o'clock. Quiet rooms although in the busy city of Tokyo.

Negative:
No portier that will help you to get your bags to the room. Room is very small and has barely space to stow the bags. Water cooker is very old and slow. Window can only be opened to a certain angle so getting fresh air in the room can take a while.
There are only Japanese TV channels available, also video on demand only in Japanese.
The location of the hotel is far from Shinjuku station and around 15 minutes from Shinjuku sanchome.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the main building in one of the top floors for a nice view.

We stayed here on our very first trip to Tokyo. The price and location were good but as with anything in Tokyo there is definitely some walking involved to get there. Our room was small but I imagine most rooms in Tokyo would be about the same. It was very clean and comfortable, since we didn't spend much time there anyway. We ate at the restaurant and it was just ok but I would stay here again because it isn't five star luxury but it was everything you need in a place to lay your head for the night.

I selected the Listel for my first trip to Tokyo. I had no idea where to stay in that big city, but found the Listel in TripAdvisor and picked it based on price and the good reviews. It's a nice, medium-sized hotel, that is centrally located. It's only a 5-7 minute walk to Shinjuku station (where there is a ton of shopping and dozens of restaurants), but the hotel is away from the main streets so it's very quiet. There are convenience stores and grocery stories just down the street/around the corner (in addition to a number of small neighborhood restaurants), and there are refrigerators in the rooms so you can store your items there. The inexpensive buffet breakfast had a mix of Japanese and Western items. Not 5 stars by any means, but worth the price and enough to give us a good start. The wifi was excellent, even better than ours at home (TimeWarner -- 'nuff said!). The room and bathroom are compact, but that's Japan. One bonus: the window opens, so you can get fresh air.

A little bit walk from main Shinjuku station but clean, surprisingly quiet, and breakfast is ok, very International which contains Chinese and Western style food, good for budget traveller. Even a bit walk from the stations, still very close to all main attractions, all sorts of shops, bars, and many, many restaurants. Also very close to Shinjuku Gyoen which is very nice park.

Placed in quite área of Tokyo City, not far away from city centre and few minutes walk from maine transports. Clean and room enough, but no body speaks good english. Free access to internet at the lobby.

Room Tip: No negative notes.

The bedroom was small, but clean. The free wifi was available in the room, which is a big bonus in Tokyo. It was in a quiet location, away from the bright lights & madness.

Within easy walking distance to the centre of Shinjuku, a great little stop off. Definitely recommended as a mid budget hotel.

Very friendly and helpful english speaking staff. Walkable from Shinjuku Sanchome station (about a mile or mile and a half). Will def. recommend this hotel. Very near to Shinjuku entertainment area and well connected with major tourist areas.
