This was a great hotel. The rooms are fairly small as people have been saying here, but they are bigger then most new hotels in japan as this hotel is fairly old. We had just flown in from Hong Kong and the hotel room we had there was much smaller. The room was clean and was stocked well with slipper and robes for the guests as well as othe sundries in the washroom. The room also comes with wired internet for free and it is quite speedy too. The location really is what makes this hotel. It is surronded by blocks of restraunts and ramen shops. There is also a few grocery stores close by, even an international foods grocery store. For those that want cheaper food, 2 MC D's and KFC are close by. The train station is a few blocks away and connects you to the whole city via subway really. Subway system is actually quite good once you figure it out, we usesd a passmo card and recharged as we went. There are also tons of convenient stores. We could see a 7/11 from our window, there was also mini marts and family marts. Coffee is quite expensive there though, I found that MC D was pretty cheap, but the mini marts had the cheapest coffee at 120 yen. I would defently stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it to those who are looking for value yet still having quality.

They charged a high rate for a worst room I have ever stayed in. In addition, by making reservation on line, when I arrived they told me that breakfast was not included. I will never stay in this hotel and will never make reservation on the website of nay hotel, but it is better to use Hotels.com or other hotel trader website.

We stayed at Hotel Metropolian after travelling around Japan the previous 10 days. It was conveniently located on the JR Yamanote line and we were able to reach it easily using the JR Rail Pass. The direction to the hotel was a little confusing as Ikebukuro Station is large & sprawling.
Upon arrival though - the hotel staff was helpful & there is a guest relations manager in the lobby to help assist in anyway. There is a gym and swimmimg pool/spa but you have to pay extra to use the facilities. The room was adequate and we were comfortable. The hotel is also surrounded by department stores (Tobu, IOIO, Sunshine City) and many boutique shops.
After days of shopping - it was comforting to know that the Airport Limousine will deliver us to Narita Airport directly - luggage and all and we didn't have to negotiate the trains & subways.

The first thing came up in mind when I checked in to the hotel is "damn! this is tiny!". I am aware of how hotel rooms in Japan tend to be small especially the bathrooms but this hotel room is incredibly small and the bathroom is too small! Big and tall-bodied people, skip this hotel. This is written based on my experience, it may differ with others due to different rooms may have different sizes.

However, the location is pretty good. Nearby Ikebukuro Station which takes you everywhere. Well, nothing much around this hotel basically, so personally I am not coming back to this hotel for the next stay in Tokyo.

Overall, the hotel is good. The rooms are on the small side, which isn't uncommon for hotels in Japan, especially in Tokyo.

I've stayed in lots of hotels in Tokyo, and I would stay here again.

1. Location: Located right next to the Ikebukuro station. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.
2. Beautiful room: Beautiful and clean. Relatively spacious on a Japanese standard.
3. Free high speed internet
4. Great price: I got my deal from expedia.ca. Paid a total of $760CAD (tax included) for 6 nights in a Superior Queen Room.
5. Great staff. Friendly and helpful!!
I'll definitely return to this hotel whenever I visit Tokyo in the future!!

I stayed at the Metropolitan (no longer a Crowne Plaza property, now part of the World Hotels group) during a 4 day stay in Tokyo this month.

I paid about $15/night more for a "superior" room for a single traveler, and I was given a beautiful room on the 23rd floor. Although the room was small by American standards--this is Japan after all--it was a marvel of efficient organization and layout. The bed was comfortable, the amenities (including a cotton bathrobe, razor, toothbrush) were nice, and the DSL WiFI was faster than what I get from AT&T at home. Immaculately clean. A small refrigerator is in the cabinet under the flat screen TV.

The Tobu department store is right across the street; and its food courts are a great place to pick up a bento box before boarding a train at Ikebukuro station for a day trip to Kamakura.

I would happily stay here again if the rates remain as reasonable as they were during my stay.
