This hotel does everything it says it does on the can! It is close to Ueno station and provides a good base to see Tokyo and surrounding areas. Room was small and clean but was only sleeping there. Ate at the Italian restaurant and the meal was good. Staff polite and helpful.

Good sized rooms (Japan), very clean, very correct service.
Located just outside the Ueno train station with access to major lines and a train to the airport (Kensei Line). If your trip relies on train connections in Tokyo this is the place.

Stayed in May for 5 nights, location is excellent, the room itself is okay...having stayed in Tokyo many times before I knew what to expect. But still, the room was really small. Even for Japanese standards. My wife really liked the amenities, especially the ION hair dryer and whatnot. Bathroom was fine, staff was nice, but I just thought it was a bit overpriced for what we had gotten. It's just nothing special. Experienced the May earthquake there, woke us up at 5am in the morning. Whole room was shaking and the building was swaying for around 20 minutes after. Which apparently is a good thing.

Located across the street from Ueno station Asakusa exit and close to the Metro entrance, the Mitsui Garden Hotel is great for a one or two night stay. Close by and about 5 minutes walk is the excellent Ueno Park - a perfect place to have a picnic and recharge yor batteries. The hotel looks relatively new and modern although the standard rooms are quite small but well equipped. Our room was on the 12F and faced Ueno station - incredibly peaceful considering the street noise. The room lacked storage space for suitcases and clothes, we ended up 'living out of suitcases' for our stay.

You need to swipe your room key to access the hotel elevator, good security measure but not really necessary and also an aggrevation. Breakfast is served in the small attached restaurant which is long, thin and curved - not great for carrying a tray of food! Breakfast selection is very average, for the money there is a much better choice (and comfort) out on the street and in Ueno station.

If you are travelling on business or with small luggage then the Mitsui Garden Hotel is a good choice, if like us you travel with large luggage then you might be better with a larger room.

Overall a pleasant stay in a modern city hotel located in a nice area of Tokyo.

this hotel is actually a 3.6 as opposed to very good

Its in a good location for people arriving in Japan ie you can get a train straight to the station and the hotel is a close walk

Ueno is an interesting place to explore

Our first time to visit Tokyo. The room is big enough compared to other hotels in Tokyo. It comes with excellent and wonderful amenities ( robes, nice sleepwear, toiletries, etc ). The location is just perfect. Just a short walk to Ueno Station, Ameyoko Shopping District. Its a very good base to reach any place in Tokyo. We dont have any negative experience to say. The staff are wonderful. This is a very recommendable hotel. You will never wrong

Room Tip: Choose higher floors, facing Ueno Station.

It turns out that is fact many people do like a bidet ... And we are some of them!! Aside from a little toilet humor, this hotel in Japan is fantastically located if you are visiting Ueno Park and right in the heart of the hustle and bustle without the noise expected of such a well located hotel. Whilst small by western standards, the rooms are clean, functioning and well appointed. It had everything we needed and so much more.. We booked it off expedia so got a great deal, can and will recommend it, and the bidet, that was great too ;)
