As an international traveller and first time visiting Japan, I went to Okachimachi Hotel for experiencing the capsules. Overall I am happy with the choice, there was nothing bad with the hotel but obviously it is not luxurious.
The staff is nice, though they don't really speak English (as everywhere in Japan) so be prepared. The hotel is clean and well located for exploring Tokyo. The capsules are spacious comparing with other hotels, have common bathrooms, they have a safebox and 14'' TV inside, fresh linen every day and a nice yukata (robe) to wear while you are at the hotel (check pics). The price was 2200 Yen (student price, they never asked me for my student ID) per day which was the cheapest I could find close to the centre of Tokyo. There may be some cheaper places but Tokyo is an enormous city and if they are too far away you'll spend more money going around with the metro than for sleeping.
Showers for the capsules are located at the ground floor and there is a free warm bath as well, only available for men, that is awesome for relaxing after walking around the city. Internet is available everywhere and they offer 2-3 PCs at the reception for public use, together with some vending machines.
Around the hotel there are many convenience stores (e.g. 24/7) for food, drinks etc. and there are two Japanese fast food chain restaurants (such as Matsya and Yoshinoya).
