Palace Japan is located near Minami-senju station (about 10 minutes walk)
Minami-senju is on Hibiya line so it's easy to access many tourist atreas.

There's a supermarket and 7-eleven near the hotel

The rooms were clean and I had to share bathroom with other ppl but the bathroom was also very clean.

The staffs are nice.

I stayed at the Palace japan hotel for a week and was impressed with the value for money that this cost me.
The hotel was quite new and was clean and comfortable. The room was not too small with a TV and fridge. Gentleman resided on different floors to the ladies and there were communal bathrooms, which were clean and the shower was really good. It is situated in an inner suburb of Tokyo and is accessable easily by metro.

The receptionist, a lady named Keiko was really helpful, spoke good english and gave me some good tips.

There is a large supermarket behind McDonalds near the metro station where you can buy all your essentuals and really good Japanaese sushi/food that can be heated in the microwave. If you go on your way back to the hotel in the evening, they reduce the food, which is a bonus!

There are quite a few cheaper places to eat in central Tokyo so shop around.

Go to a fleamarket or Antiques market (usually held at the weekend as they are fun and you can pick up a bargain!) Ask at the Tourist office at Asakusa.

Stayed for ten nights in August 2012 with my best friend in a twin room.

The room was tiny but had free air conditioning which is an absolute must in Tokyo around August. Kitted out with a tiny fridge which we filled with beer from the vending machine in the kitchen - particularly Chu-Hi beer which tastes like lemonade and quickly sees you spiralling into a whirlwind of refreshing lemony alcoholism.

The staff were very friendly, allowing us to borrow their cigarette vending machine card to use in the vending machines on the street outside. Also allowed us to have a free shower after we had checked out and before making our way to the Tokyo Haneda on our last day.

The area is poor and has many homeless people however they aren't like homeless people here in England and mostly stick to themselves eating noodles in the street and chatting to their friends.

I've rates the cleanliness low because the kitchen was a bit gross and had insects but I think it may have been due to the sticky August weather.

If you're a guy staying here, make sure to try the girls toilets on your floor and press all of the buttons, it's an interesting experience to say the least!

If you stay make sure to rent bikes from reception and cycle along to Asakusa! It's cheap and very fun.

I would recommend this hotel/hostel to anyone wanting to visit Tokyo on a budget. Make sure to buy a Pasmo card as soon as you arrive to help you get around on the metro lines quickly, you can also buy beer and sandwiches with the Pasmo at convenience stores like 7eleven.

Arigato Gozaimasu!

Location: Only 5 minutes walk from Minami senju metro station.
The 1st time when I saw the map, I think it’s quite far but actually it is not far at all.
Along the road from the metro station to hotel, as a solo female traveler, it is very safe to walk back to the hotel at night if you are concerned for this issue.

The room is small but super clean. Shared toilet is also clean. There’s one bath tub room on each floor.

Cosy hotel, located in a convenient place and comparing
to the similarities in the nearest area this will be the best
accomodation house. Actually rooms are narrow but in
Japan not possible to find large rooms in budget category.
Second cons is the cleaning time is 09.00am and check out
time is 10 or 11.00 am this will be a pity. But all the staff is very
helpfull and welcoming. You will feel the Japan's honesty and
nobility. Rooms are very clean coming with A/C and fridge.
Baths & toilettes are more than clean like sanitized.
Kitchen is very handy. Finally seceond time and everytime
I will stay there & I can offer to anybody who is looking for
their rest wıth affordable prices.

I have stayed at several different hotels in the Minami-Senju area and Palace Japan delivers great value for the price.

The whole place is incredibly clean. Toilets and showers are shared, but the facilities are spotless and very comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was great, and hot water abundant. I wish they had a "washlet" toilet seat, but they did not.

The room, of course, is tiny. You can see from the pictures at this site. The wifi was reliable, and I got a consistently strong signal. And it's free. Bedding was Japanese style - so the pillow is the buckwheat (I think) type common in Tokyo - a bit hard for an American head. The windows can be opened to give some fresh air, but they keep the sound out very well when closed. There is air conditioning - the remote is Japanese only, but with some patience, you can figure it out. (Blue means cold.) There is a small "closet" that has a combination lock on it - very smart design.

When I arrived, the staff (a woman who lived in the US for a while) was extremely helpful. She gave me a map, pointed out some local sights, and even recommended an excellent sushi restaurant nearby. It was a very warm welcome!

The one thing that was inconvenient is the cleaning time of the toilets/showers. They clean from 9-10am, so the showers are not available then. Check-out time is 10am (as is common in Tokyo), so that implies that you need to have completed any toilet/shower/sink activity before 9am on the day of your departure. I realize that Japanese custom is to bathe in the evening, but with so many hours in the day, I wonder why they select 9-10am as the time to clean the showers.

In summary, this is an excellent choice for someone willing to have shared facilities and get quite an affordable rate in Tokyo. The area around Minami-Senju is full of economy-priced lodging, but the Palace Japan provides much better value than similarly-priced alternatives.
