This museum is amazing! It has a permanent exhibition of "Boro" ragged traditional clothing that is exquisite! It is an incredible journey you take when viewing these beautiful "soulful" clothing. The stories and wisdom contained in the clothing are very heartfelt and thought provoking, you will come out with a new perspective on what we have. Chuzaturo Tanaka (curator, collector) thank you for sharing your journey!!!!

The museum is close to the famous Senso-Ji Temple that is reached after passing through the first gate into a street of shops then a second gate before the Temple. Very colourful and busy area with lots of things to see and experience. Most enjoyable.

閉館時間に近かったせいか、とても静かでした。
入場料が大人1000円とかなり高いのですが、見ごたえがありました。
屋上からは、スカイツリーがよく見えます。
Boro Exhibition was wonderful. You can learn "mottainai" spirit. You are allowed to touch ad feel old clothes there. The explanation was very good and also written in English.
From the roof top, you can see Asakusa Temples and Sky Tree. Don't forget to go to the roof top.

My husband and I rate this museum as our favourite museum in all Japan! We spent about 2 hours here absolutely fasinated by the displays of old kimonos. Chuzaburo Tanaka collected hundreds of old kimonos and other pieces and has some on show here.
From the prefecture of Aomori, the people made clothes from hemp and simply kept patching them over and over again and using scraps tp keep padding for warmth. They are shabbily beautiful.
Ther are many stories to read that are sooo beautiful that I was in tears at times.
Phots and touching were encouraged for most articles. I couln' t believe it.
Also, we had the museum almost to ourselves and could wander quietly around with noone watching us.
It was wonderful. It is very close to the sensoi ji temple. Don' t miss it !

I am a textiles freak so loved the Boro exhibition. Even better one is able to take as many pictures as possible and even try some of the garments on. While I was there there was also a Hiroshige woodcut display - what more can I say? Fantastic location right by the Asakusa templeas
