“Excellent base for exploring Tokyo”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

This was our first time in Tokyo and we arrived after a 24 hour door to door journey totally exhausted. The staff were so helpful and welcoming, getting us checked in and up to our room with minimum hassle.

The breakfast here is fantastic; it has a mix of Japanese and "western" food which allows you to try new things (all of which we're fabulous).

It's only a few steps from the shrine at Asakusa and is a few mins walk from the metro and the train station (direct line to Nikko if you're interested in visiting there).

Room is quite small but I understand that's normal for Tokyo (and in any event the room was much bigger than the other hotel we stayed in in Tokyo at the end of our trip). Only downside is that it is quite a way from some of the more "nighttime" districts of Tokyo eg Shinjuku, but it depends what you're after.

I stayed here for one night in late May. I took the subway, which was a 10-minute walk from the station. The Tsukuba express station is actually much closer and provides easy access to Akihabara. The hotel is perfectly situated a stone's throw from Sensoji temple. The rooms are rather small, but very clean, modern and functional. The breakfast in the AM was very good. Overall, for the price, this is an exceptional hotel.

This hotel is a stone throw away from the well know Senso-ji temple. A modern compact hotel. Room is clean and comfortable. Service is good.
A good location.

Note: If you are travelling to several cities in Japan using public transport and don’t want to drag your big suitcases with you, we found the Luggage Transfer service is very efficient and convenient. The hotel will send your suit cases onwards to your next hotel for a fee. Highly recommended if you don’t want the hassle of lugging big suitcases on busy trains/buses.

Great location, such a quaint neighbourhood. Good value for money. Close to Senso-ji Temple and night time food stalls. Easy access to trains to visit neighbouring areas. Can't complain about anything. You will be happy with your stay here.

Hotel staff are nice and very helpful. Clean and good location hotel, which not far from station (Metro/Toei), very close to temple and 24 hour store. The only thing you may consider is the view, it wasn't bad but not very good.

Stayed in the older part of Tokyo near fairly active area with markets, the temple and metro. Very good small rooms with good bathroom facilities, restaurant, laundry and helpful staff. Recommend highly. If you opt for breakfast or pay separately it is good value. Coffee to take away in am is free after breakfast. Also had excellent Free Tokyo Guide to take us around.

Room Tip: I had a quiet room but the night time is generally quiet in the area.

We spent 5 nights at Richmond Asakusa in April 2014. I don't think we could make a better choice at similar price range. The hotel is located in the heart of Asakusa district, famous for its amazing temple and lively streets bustling with local cafes and shops. Like everywhere in Japan, the staff were very polite and helpful, even though, like almost everywhere in Japan, they might benefit from learning English a bit more. The room was nice - with a great view, clean and with well thought-out details. The breakfast was very decent and included both European and Japanese products.

Overall - the hotel turned out an excellent value for money - and definitely recommended.

Anton and Mila

Room Tip: high floor with a view over Asakusa attraction park
