Asakusa is definitely a must visit area if you're planning to go to Tokyo. The temple is a little busy but has a great atmosphere. The markets are definitely a great place to visit for food stands (ice cream, rice crackers, taiyaki, shaved ice, etc.) as well as decent priced souvenirs for friends and family. My dad ended up bulk buying ¥500 boxes of mochi and daifuku which he had to carry around while we walked around the area and also later in Odaiba which we went to via river boat cruise.
