“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

I stayed at this hotel for six nights with my girlfriend. Our overall experience was excellent and I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Getting there:
As we arrived very late at Haneda Airport and the subway closes at midnight, we had to take a taxi. We had the address printed out in Japanese and the taxi driver had no trouble finding it. It cost about 9,000 Yen.
Our flight back home left from Narita Airport. We took the subway for one station to Asakusa and from there, an express train takes you directly to the airport for about 1,200 Yen. No problem at all, even with our very large and heavy bags.

The location:
The hotel is located directly next to a subway station (Tawaramachi Station), from which the Ginza line takes you directly to Asakusa, or, the other way, to Ginza and Shibuya. If you need to get anywhere else, you can change lines in Ueno (two stops) or Shibuya. Also, you can walk to the Skytree from there, which is nice, because you get to see a little more of the city than just the typical tourist spots.
A Family Mart is located directly next to the hotel, where you can stack up on snacks and all kinds of drinks.
We didn't really walk around the neighborhood much (just on our way to the Skytree), but it is clean and safe, like everywhere in Tokyo.

The room:
Our room was very small. I have stayed in Tokyo before and have talked to other people who also have and this seems to be normal. We had a look inside some other rooms and there are bigger ones, but ours was very small. We could only open one suitcase at a time and not really walk around much.
The bed was large enough, though (I have stayed in bigger rooms with smaller beds) and very comfy. I slept very well for the entire week.
There is a small TV with Japanese channels, and also USB ports. We did not try connecting a hard disc to it, but they're great for charging electronic devices, so I thought I'd mention it.
The bathroom was, compared to everything else, rather large. The shower has a normal shower head, as well as a rainfall shower from above, a very nice touch. Everything is clean and just how you would expect a hotel bathroom to be.

As mentioned in the hotel description, the rooms are not equipped with anything except the necessary stuff like towels. For a hairdryer or shampoo, you need to go down to the reception and buy or rent things. We brought our own hairdryer and rented a power plug adapter for 500 Yen for the whole week. They have extra towels, shampoo, slippers, and even iPads and some other fancy stuff. If you need anything, the staff is happy to help and stuff is very cheap.

There is free WiFi. I can only speak for our room (9th floor) and the hotel lobby, but the reception is excellent and we had no trouble accessing the internet at any time.

The staff:
We found every single staff member we interacted with to be very friendly and helpful. They speak enough English to help people with requests, which is not always a given in Japan.

The Agora Place Asakusa is a great hotel in an excellent location. If you are in Tokyo to explore the city and aren't interested in hotel wellness or anything like that, this is a great place to stay! I would definitely stay here again.

Location is ideal just 5 mins walk from tawaramachi metro station.. This hotel is more like a spa and you need to pay for the Kimona (bit odd comparable to other hotels in Japan) and they do sell a host of other things including shampoo, conditioner etc..
walkable distance to senzoji temple and kappabakshi ( famous for ceramics, utensils and kitchen stuffs also check out the fake food ) and other famous tourist locations. Room is small but very clean and neat. Also can rent ipad for a day for 500 yen. They got free wifi also bar / grill downstairs. I would really recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of March beginning of April. Room was booked by travel agent but unfortunately without the breakfast included or room amenities like soap and shampoo etc. Our other party members had these included. Close to Subway and Family Mart which had excellent sandwiches'.

Room Tip: If you want amenities and breakfast included, make sure these are included with your booking

Stayed in this hotel because of a package deal. The hotel is 1 minute walk from Tawaramachi station on the Ginza line but note that Tawaramachi is a small station and we had to carry our luggage up many many many steps. There is an elevator at one of the exits but if you are not familiar with the station, you may not get to the elevator.

The hotel is New York style, as it claimed to be. I've never been to New York and am not sure whether it's true. However, I must admit that the hotel is simple, neat and clean but the bathroom is a bit too small. The sink area cannot accommodate a big guy. So, if you think you are fat or big, refrain from this hotel.

We were a bit confused by the 'pick your extras' concept on arrival (basically you can buy and hire extras not included in your room), but we arrived early and were able to leave our bags. Check in was slick, and reception is open 24 hours.

The room itself was quite small, but I'm sure the value was good compared to the prices in other hotels. The main problem was that it was really hot, even though it wasn't hot outside, and, being on the 9th floor, the window wouldn't open much.

The room was clean and styled cleanly. It didn't need such a big TV, which could've given back some storage space. But there was a small hanging space available, the sink was squeezed in next to the shower with no room for toothbrushing elbows. But the bed was big enough (we're not tall though). The optional buffet breakfast was simple, having options of eggs, bacon, sausages, salad, Japanese options, tea, coffee, juice - good value. V close to the metro (same as anywhere in Tokyo?)

The receptionis has mistaken giving my friends a single room while they should get a double room. To pay the mistake, the hotel put them in the tripple room...wow! Even we should buy the ammenities that provided at front of the lobby, but the basic room itself its very good and very clean. Theres a small savebox and electric kettle. The location, you can access the hotel from 3 different subways, Tawaramachi station (the closest), asakusa station and kuramae station. 7 minutes walk from the nakamise shopping street, a shopping heaven for tourist. close to sensoji temple. Its wonderful.

Location, location, location.
Agora Place Asakusa is less than one min away from metro, Family mart, and walking distance to 淺草雷門!
It's not 5 stars, and do not provide shower gel, shampoo.. but the lobby first is neat and modern kind of vibe. The room is clean, and even have a bathtub!! (Which is rare in Tokyo) The bed is great soft and clean. It's quite small as many of the guest will complain, but it's Tokyo, what do you expect with the price like this. For me, clean and good location is good enough for me. I will stay here again if i have a chance.
