I stayed at this hotel for six nights with my girlfriend. Our overall experience was excellent and I would definitely recommend this hotel!
As we arrived very late at Haneda Airport and the subway closes at midnight, we had to take a taxi. We had the address printed out in Japanese and the taxi driver had no trouble finding it. It cost about 9,000 Yen.
Our flight back home left from Narita Airport. We took the subway for one station to Asakusa and from there, an express train takes you directly to the airport for about 1,200 Yen. No problem at all, even with our very large and heavy bags.
The hotel is located directly next to a subway station (Tawaramachi Station), from which the Ginza line takes you directly to Asakusa, or, the other way, to Ginza and Shibuya. If you need to get anywhere else, you can change lines in Ueno (two stops) or Shibuya. Also, you can walk to the Skytree from there, which is nice, because you get to see a little more of the city than just the typical tourist spots.
A Family Mart is located directly next to the hotel, where you can stack up on snacks and all kinds of drinks.
We didn't really walk around the neighborhood much (just on our way to the Skytree), but it is clean and safe, like everywhere in Tokyo.
Our room was very small. I have stayed in Tokyo before and have talked to other people who also have and this seems to be normal. We had a look inside some other rooms and there are bigger ones, but ours was very small. We could only open one suitcase at a time and not really walk around much.
The bed was large enough, though (I have stayed in bigger rooms with smaller beds) and very comfy. I slept very well for the entire week.
There is a small TV with Japanese channels, and also USB ports. We did not try connecting a hard disc to it, but they're great for charging electronic devices, so I thought I'd mention it.
The bathroom was, compared to everything else, rather large. The shower has a normal shower head, as well as a rainfall shower from above, a very nice touch. Everything is clean and just how you would expect a hotel bathroom to be.
As mentioned in the hotel description, the rooms are not equipped with anything except the necessary stuff like towels. For a hairdryer or shampoo, you need to go down to the reception and buy or rent things. We brought our own hairdryer and rented a power plug adapter for 500 Yen for the whole week. They have extra towels, shampoo, slippers, and even iPads and some other fancy stuff. If you need anything, the staff is happy to help and stuff is very cheap.
There is free WiFi. I can only speak for our room (9th floor) and the hotel lobby, but the reception is excellent and we had no trouble accessing the internet at any time.
We found every single staff member we interacted with to be very friendly and helpful. They speak enough English to help people with requests, which is not always a given in Japan.
The Agora Place Asakusa is a great hotel in an excellent location. If you are in Tokyo to explore the city and aren't interested in hotel wellness or anything like that, this is a great place to stay! I would definitely stay here again.
