“Loved this place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2014

We had one night in Tokyo. We wanted to be close to the SkyLiner train to Narita, so we chose to stay in the Ueno/Nezu area. We loved the hotel and the quiet residential area in which it was located. The nice woman at the front desk had perfect English and check-in was a cinch. The hotel was impeccably clean (leaving the shoes downstairs is great!), quiet and had everything we needed - firm beds with fluffy duvets, big fridge, kettle, an awesomely efficient little bathroom with HOT water and great water pressure, cool mid-century-esque furniture. We'd never been in this area before - what a gem! Ueno with its many restaurants, raucous pachinko parlors and electronic shops contrasted with Nezu and its more high-end wine bars and French restaurants - we are looking forward to staying again at Graphy Nezu and getting to know Nezu a bit better.

I stayed here over 10 days. It is in a good location and very quiet. Nezu is an old town of Tokyo and enjoyable to walk around. So its location is perfect. However you have to know that you have to take off shoes each time you come back to hotel, and there is no elevator, so if you stay at top floor, you need to carry your luggages by yourself (and stairs are steep) It is convenient as you can wash your clothes, but rooms can get cold at night and its bathroom in the room is tiny.
And, please notice that the front staff is there only 15-21:00, so if you arrive earlier (which happens often) you need to let them know beforehand. If you stay for a couple days, it should be fine, but I don't find it that reasonable. I won't go back again. Tokyo has too many places to stay.

The location is okay, 5min walk to Nezu station, super market and convenient store. Nezu is a relative quiet place than other area of Tokyo. But I guess I like this kind of place more than Ueno or Shibuya, so I feel very comfortable walking around here or to the metro station. The staff has no prob communicating in English and very kind to visitors.

Highly recommended.

The price for a room here was very cheap so I wasn't expecting much from this hotel/hostel. I was surprised by the very high quality of the rooms, amenities, staff and location. I stayed 4 nights in a room with a shared bathroom. The room was basic but very clean. Clean bath towels supplied every day. The staff were very helpful and although reception closes at 21:00 there was someone waiting for us to arrive at 22:30 as we had let them know we were arriving late. The location is fantastic, 15 minutes walk from Ueno station. From Ueno you can easily travel throughout Tokyo and there is a fast train to the airport. The shared bathrooms were always very clean. The kitchen facilities are excellent and spacious. Free WiFi throughout.

While the location is in a residential area, it's quite close to Ueno station (15 min walk, or less by bike). The building is really clean and modern. The rooms are big (for Japan standards at least!), and clean. Rooms I stayed in didn't have a bathroom, those are in the hallway. I liked it so much, I came back after 1 night in another place.

We had a short two night stay here and found the place to be clean and economical. We did not know that the desk closed at 9 PM and after the commute in from Narita, dinner in Ueno, and time to get to the hotel we barely made it in time to check in.

To be honest, I was searching for other hotels and I booked this one cause of the rating not knowing that the bathrooms and showers were not in the room. It was clearly stated but after looking at many places, I was focused on location, price, and ratings and overlooked it. As most Japanese hotels have smoking, that was a concern for us and this one was smoke free. After getting over the bathrooms in the hallway, we found the entire building to be very clean so it did not matter so much. I did not notice any backups to use the toilets or the showers. Had I planned better I would have brought a yukata, robe, or a night gown so I would not need to get dressed to use the facilities.

You check in and place your shoes in the shoe box and they give you slippers to use inside. (One reason it is clean.) The king bed room was very adequate. Of note the men's showers are on the second floor and the women's is on the third floor and they have toilets on each level. Your key electronically opens the outside door to get in after 9 PM. The building is close to Nezu Subway but we ended up taking a cab as we arrived at night and did not know where it was. The cab used a GPS to get us the few blocks we needed to go. It is in a very residential area but once you know where it is it's easy to come and go. You could walk 15 minutes to/from Ueno station too as it on the Ueno park side of the station. Wi-Fi was good and there was internet in the room. They did give us fresh towels daily. There are restaurants and convenience stores near the station and in Ueno. We did not do laundry but it said it was free. There was a small refer, desk, and TV in the room. The main floor had a large communal dining and kitchen that we did not use. Check out was in the morning by leaving your key in the room as the desk was not open. I had asked about storing luggage and as no one was at the desk in the AM, I was told the best thing to do was to bring it to Ueno station lockers which we did. We use the Keisei line to get back to Narita so that is convenient as we went sightseeing for the day.

As this place was so clean and smoke free, I would not have a problem staying here again even if the bathrooms are in the hall, but I will bring a robe. (The other review mentions having a bathroom in the room.) Good price.

Room Tip: 2nd floor men's showers, 3rd floor women's showers if that matters to you. No elevator.

Very suitable for an individual stay in Tokyo. The kitchen is organised very well, which makes cooking very enjoyable. Also the laundry possiblities are great. Our room was quite small for two persons; but ok.
