This delightful little cottage is self contained and attached to the main house Cary Place. The sitting room is to make you feel at home with big sofas and a wood burning stove for chilly evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with a lovely little patio for alfresco dining. The two double bedrooms are ensuite ; one is in the roof with painted beams. The owner obviously has a flair for interior design.... We took some ideas home with us !

This is a lovely period house , newly refurbished to a very high standard .
Debra, Humphrey the dog and the two cats made us most welcome .
Cary Place is positioned in the High Street of Castle Cary village just a few miles from Bruton , Somerton , Frome, and other places of interest . Wheatfield Golf Course is just a few miles away .
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend , made to feel absolutely at home and highly recommend Cary Place. The breakfast was lovely..the almond croissant the best ever!
We look forward to returning in the summer to see how the gardens are progressing....if the finished product is anything like the house they will be amazing.

We have just returned from a superb weekend away at the gorgeous Georgian B & B, Cary Place, in the pretty vibrant market town of Castle Cary in Somerset. We travelled by train from Paddington direct to Castle Cary in 1 hour 40 minutes, which is on the main London to Penzance line. The owner offers a meet and greet service from the station which is a mile north of the town so we could leave the car behind.
Cary Place has recently been refurbished and furnished to an extremely high standard in a traditional yet eclectic style. Off the impressive entrance hall, there is a beautifully furnished bright breakfast/dining room and a stunning sitting room with a window seat looking out on to one of 2 Walled Gardens. Resident house dog Humphrey adds to the general welcome and relaxed feel of Cary Place.
There are 2 large double bedrooms and a smaller twin room. The bathroom for one of the double rooms is not en suite but if you book this room your dog can come too. Our double room was stylishly furnished with a sleigh bed and huge bathroom with separate shower and bath. The owner has plans to open a restaurant overlooking their orchard and Laundry Cottage, a spacious and self-contained cottage attached to the rear of the main house (sleeping up to 6) is near completion. This will bring great flexibility for larger parties and families with different age groups.
We enjoyed a traditional English breakfast cooked in an Aga with locally sourced ingredients. We then wandered the 5 minutes into town from Cary Place, which is set back off the main High Street, to the centre of Castle Cary and its 19th Century Market House and Museum. Behind is the historic Round House, one of the country’s best preserved town lock ups. There is a wealth of independent and quirky gift and interiors shops, as well as numerous tea rooms and the old George Inn. We visited nearby Frome and the races at Wincanton and enjoyed country walks and relaxing in the sitting room with the Sunday papers. We plan a longer stay next time at this special B & B, which we can highly recommend.

Room Tip: Your dog can come too if you book the room without an en suite.
