We stayed at the Tallet last weekend with our little boy of 22 months - it was perfect, with everything you could possibly need for child safety and adult relaxation time. Oil burner means warm and cosy, next to the farm, means feeding the chickens and looking for eggs in the mornings - then eating them!!!
Nearest village has shops and takeaways - however don't do what we did and decide the none cooking night for the sunday - as only the kebab shop was open for food unless you eat in one of the local pubs!!
We took a trip to longleat when we were there which was about half an hours drive, and also went to shopping outlet at Street, which was only 15 mins drive - enjoyed time around the cottage the most though, even saw a calf who was born while we were there.

Wonderful selection of toys and books so no need to take anything if about 1-3 years of age.

Sally and Rob are fantastic hosts, but also gave us our own space - perfect weekend in summary!!

I am so glad that you all enjoyed your weekend self-catering in The Tallet. The chickens have missed being fed!
We have tried to supply everything that a young family needs, to save space in the car, but the cottage is also enjoyed by families with older children and by couples wanting a break. I hope we shall see you again!

Infact we have been thinking about moving in... Sally - is this ok ?

The Clanville manor is set in the quaint hamlet of Clanville just outside Castle Cary. A working cattle farm it offers B&B rooms and a cottage for accomodation. The rooms are in the main farmhouse which is a beautiful place to be. Decorated superbly the farmhouse sets you in a relaxed mind straight away. here you are part of the manor. The room was excellent with one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in.

Breakfast was a very tasty and was a thoroughbyl enjoyable experience in the dining room with the radio on and home made bread and jams.to go with the fry up !

Check out time is 1030 and we struggled to make it as the we could not find the motivation to leave. Sally is a great host(ess) and has a lovely home.

See you again very soon.

Thank you so much for your kind review-I am sure we could negotiate a full time stay!
NB to future guests: check out is 10.30am but, a later check out is sometimes possible especially on a Sunday in the winter when we may not need to 'turn the room around' for guests that afternoon.

As an American living in London, I'm constantly on the look out for those little bits of old English life people from outside the country really associate with the UK. Clanville Manor delivers it with a lovely grace that only comes from a genuine passion. The Manor House is beautiful, and from the personal greeting upon arrival, and home-cooked meal to the old squeaky gate, and authentic furnishings it's difficult not to love this B&B. It was just as nice to have modern touches (like free wifi, a new flat screen TV, and updated bath room) but nothing of the genuine air is lost. I think if you're visiting Castle Cary, the Kilver Court Gardens, or even on a shopping spree to the Mulberry Factory store, and fancy a quiet night away from the world, this place is hard to beat.

Room Tip: Book well in advance! The town is small and events like birthdays and weddings can fill a lot of rooms.

I am so glad that you appreciated our efforts to keep the old but incorporate the new! We are not a 'Boutique' B&B and we don't have a slate wet room, but we have spent many years updating our Georgian farmhouse which is also our family home, and believe that we offer traditional excellence combined with 21st century essentials such as on-line booking, free Wi-Fi and an iPod DABradio in comfortable en-suite rooms with all comforts. We serve a Full English or a choice of lighter alternatives for breakfast and have a folder full of details of several good places to eat nearby in the evenings. Please do return, and do recommend us to your friends and colleagues. Thank you!

From the minute I arrived I felt like I was visiting an old family friend, I was just made to feel so welcome and at home. I was offered a cup of tea in the garden to recover from an awful journey down the A303. The 'extras' provided were above nad beyond what I expected, e.g. outside our rooms was a little basket providing things we may have forgotten, like toothbrushes (in packets!) Wine glasses and a corkscrew.

Very comfortable single room, beautifully furnished

Excellent choice of home-cooked breakfasts. A very comfortable guest lounge

Room Tip: very difficult to get a single room in this area. Most places charge double rooms at double the price

I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay here at Clanville Manor. As you mention, we are one of only a few places in the area to have an en-suite single room. Decorated with Toile de Jouey and with elegant French furniture, we have several guests that return to stay in it every year! It is a compact room but has all the facilities offered by the larger rooms. I hope you will return!

Wonderful warm welcome from Sally with tea and freshly baked cake in the garden. Nothing too much trouble and as for the breakfast, perhaps only just beaten once in our lives and that was in Dar es Salaam! Spacious very well equipped bedroom...even the beds turned down at night and a mid-week change of sheets. Then there is the pool...amazing to find it to be 24 degrees C so that children at least could enjoy it for quite a while! You need to enjoy the quiet at night...beautiful.

Room Tip: Go for the four-poster, it's really worth it.

Many thanks for your kind review. You enjoyed the quiet at night-other guests have told us that they also enjoy seeing the stars so clearly as there is very little light pollution here.
