I recently stayed for a night in the Sunrise Suite at the Pier Hotel with my wife for our first anniversary. Upon arriving at the hotel we managed to get a parking space right outside the entrance, as we entered, the receptionist was very welcoming and friendly and informed us of mealtimes, etc. and asking if we would like to book a table in the restaurant for dinner, however we chose to decide later.

This was our first trip to the Pier Hotel so we were a little unsure as to what to expect of the room but all we can say is that it was stunning, as we reached the top of the first flight of stairs we were faced with the large double doors which was the entrance to our suite.

Upon entering we can only say that we were very impressed with both the suite itself and the level of cleanliness that staff had obviously taken great care to achieve, even down to the little touches like a bottle of water by each side of the bed and a generously filled tray of tea, coffee and hot chocolate, although there was not enough milk provided for the amount of drinks this was readily available at reception.

There was a large television in the lounge area of the suite and a slightly smaller one (but still a fair size) in the bedroom, although only there for the night so we didn't watch it very much but thought we would add it in! In the lounge area there are 2 comfy chairs and a further 2 chairs and a small table by the television, also, in the bedroom area there were 2 chairs and a table in the window. The shower room was also nicely presented with a large walk in shower and plentiful towels, and handy little dispensers for soap, shampoo, shower gel and conditioner, which was very handy.

Also, and this was really our favourite part, was the balcony up several steps leading off the lounge area, here was a small decking area but plenty of room for a small table and 2 chairs up one end and 2 chairs up the other, and the view, although slightly obscured by the roof of the extension was still amazing and we spent quite a lot of time out there admiring the view across the bay of the beach and cliffs, and on the Sunday morning the sailing club setting up was also quite interesting.

We went down to the bar area for a drink and the service was generally pretty fast and the bar staff friendly, this area was also nicely decorated with everything clearly signposted, it was also very clean with the bar staff regularly wiping the bar area (within seconds of picking your drink up), the drinks prices were reasonable and about what I would have expected to pay, not cheap, but not too expensive either.

We decided to eat in the bar area so my Wife had the pate to start followed by a daily special of cajun grilled monkfish then profiteroles with ice cream, all of which she said was very good, I had the soup of the day (root vegetable), followed by a 10 oz rib eye steak (which was cooked to perfection), then the chocolate and cherry gateaux which was also very tasty, so yes, the food was good, and again reasonably priced considering we had 3 courses.

The bed was comfortable providing an adequate nights sleep (but then I don't generally sleep well anyway), although my wife slept well and I couldn't wake her up to see the sunrise that SHE insisted we saw, so instead I took some pictures for her and showed her later...lol

The breakfast was also very good, with a choice of fruit juice, cereal, etc. to start, although we did not have these and instead went straight for a pot of tea and a full English which I thoroughly enjoyed and again, the service was very friendly.

Shortly after this we went back to our room for the last time, and was gutted that we had to leave, and upon checking out, the receptionist asked if all was ok and if we enjoyed our stay, which of course we did (I'm sure that you already knew the answer frrom the above review ;)).

All in all we had a great time and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, as at least in our opinion it had the full package!

Room Tip: Choose the sunrise Suite you won't regret it, failing that a room overlooking the beach is highl...

Me and my girlfriend stayed in the Pier Hotel last week for four days and three nights. We stayed in the Sunrise Suite. We had bed and breakfast. From start to finish the staff were friendly, did much more then they needed for us and took our queries and concerns on board. When we checked in the room was like a thing of our dreams, it was gorgeous! Two TVs, our own lounge area and dinning table, balcony, on suite bathroom and chairs by window.. However, few things for the money I think they could have a bath. There certainly is room and it would have been nice for me and the girlfriend to relax in a bath one night, also little things in the bathroom like no bath mat so when I came out of the shower onto a marble floor. I slipped.. The bed was slightly uncomfortable but very very squeaky. One main problem with the room, the floor boards!! They were so creaky and the first night was terrible all night long walking and banging above. Mentioned it to reception and they did say the lady was heavily pregnant so we let that go. She then mentioned that the following two nights there is a gentleman staying over for business so won't make a noise .. Well .. He didn't during the night but was up at 5am banging and making noise all morning. Only eat one night. Ordered room service rather then sitting in restaurant, same food but tray charge. Was very good for the price, we were trying to work on a budget for the week so was defiantly great value for money. Jess has a prawn and crayfish sandwich and I had deluxe burger. Very tasty. No complaints. We had breakfast all three mornings, full English was lovely, all cooked. Second day Jess had boiled eggs, raw, didn't mention it because its to kind but next day asked for it to be more well done and they certainly did, couldn't even dip.. I had haddock on the third morning and it was smoked to perfection, cooked beautifully and very tasty. Few other minor points, I'm pleased they re- filled our tea/coffee/sugar ect.. Every day but a new bottle of water would have been nice. Asked for a dressing gown and they forgot first day but then we was out all day but second day the lady got it straight away. Very nice lady, even said we could borrow a DVD of her from her house (didn't) but kind of her. Surprised we had lots of sunny weather and a few hot days, lovely area and all round a good hotel but for the price could improve. Probably wouldn't stay again..

The Pier Hotel is a good all round hotel. Comfortable rooms, Excellent food in the restaurant, friendly helpful staff, Two bars, one lively, and one quiet. The only thing missing is a lift.
The hotel is in a Great location on the beach, and is a handy base to explore the surrounding areas of Norfolk. I will stay here again if I return to this area.

Room Tip: All rooms have a view, Some of the beach and sea, others of the River and harbor.

We had stopped for lunch here a couple of months ago and as my Husband had to be in the area again we decided to book at The Pier for a night which was absolutely lovely. So much so we only wished we were able to stay longer! All the staff were extremely pleasant and the Receptionist could not have been nicer and was so obliging. We had an evening meal in the Bar area which was superb. We had a lovely room which was spotless and so very comfortable.

We stayed here for one night to attend a funeral. On arrival at the hotel the reception staff were very helpful. We were not sure of the way to the crematorium and the reception staff member, instantly printed off an excellent map for us. They were very busy at the time as well.
We had a seaview room with an excellent view of the fabulous beach and sea. Couldn't fault the room at all.
The wake was held here and the staff were yet again excellent. Everything was perfect.
The breakfast in the morning was probably the best we had ever had in an hotel. Perfect!.
All in all, our stay was very, very good. Thank you.

Room Tip: We had room 205. Excellent seaview and we didn't experience any noise.

We were travelling from Yorkshire to Suffolk and booked the Pier Hotel to break the trip. Well how clever were we??? Situated right on a sandy beach as well as the harbour entrance, plenty of location here!
The room was on the first floor and quiet away from the patrons down stairs. While not large it was adequate and the bathroom was modern and all very clean.
The hotel is very well patronised by locals as well the recently renovated rooms are in demand. There is a restaurant as well as bar area for dinning. If the hotel does not suit there are other restaurant choices nearby. The breakfast was basic and cooked to order.
Not sure what else there might be to attract one to Gorleston or Yarmouth but the Pier Hotel has to be considered as the place to stay.
