“Space, peace and relaxation: recommended with a few tips”
Reviewed 13 April 2013

Thank you to previous reviewers for describing this place, which you would never find by accident. In fact, even with a good gps, this is not easy to find (the first time).
We very much like this place; in fact, it was our favorite after our first week's tour in Mallorca.
It is a few hundred metres from the main road between Manacor and San Lorenc, surrounded by fields. There is a main building (reception, bar, terrace, leisure rooms, restaurant), and several other buildings scattered around. All in the nice local stones, looking at the same time very old and very well restaured. The same local stone are used for the pavement, which is all around. TIP: no high heels here!!
The pool is really mangificent. It was still very cold, but after a while in tha sauna, it was very nice.
There are rooms in separate buildings around the main building. We had 2 rooms, with large private terrace on the ground floor in the larger building between the main building and the wellness building, which I recommend as a very nice position. There are also a few nice rooms facing the pool, and a few facing outside. Do note that there are a few rooms which do not offer a lot of privecy, as they are in low buildings all surrounded by the paved walking roads. They have a terrace, but those walking by will view right in, over the 2 feet wall or plants that form the terrace. TIP: ask clearly which room is proposed. Most privacy probably comes from the (3 or 4) rooms on the first floor (2nd for americans), so above the ones we had (and they looked from their balcony into our "private" terrace). Very nice are also the 4 rooms close to the tennis court, or those facing the pool. BUT do note that you hear the traffic on the main road!! The rooms themselves rooms were top: very spacey, all facilities. Great oval shaped bath tubs, with plenty hot water.
There are many pots with plats, and also some trees, breaking the sun light and creating a nice athmosphere, with all the old stone buildings. We were very lucky as the orange trees were blossoming, filling the air with delicious aromas.
The wellness was OK; not really great. We found the (small) sauna to be the best, followed by the steam room. The indoor pool was as cold as the outdoor one, and the jacuzzi was only at 26 degrees. so basically pointless.
The dinner was quite nice, but we did not find it top (but only had one dish each); quite some choice from the menu. TIP: the spicey spagetty is really hot!! The soups were served too hot (microwaved!).
The breakfast was the BEST we had on the island: a LOT of choice of fresh produce, including eggs laid on the property. Real freshly squeezed orange juice!! Several choices of bread.
All in all, I wish we had more time to enjoy this. TIP: not recommended for kids: I think most other guests would frown on the noice that younger kids make; and teenage kids like ours will find the place too boring after a day or so. Great for adults and romance!

Room Tip: Most privacy probably comes from the (3 or 4) rooms on the first floor (2nd for americans), so above...

The hotel with character and Spa. In spa was missing music and aroma. Restaurant was perfect, with the stylish hall almost all dishes were fresh and tasty (only do not take a pasta bolognese was overcooked ). They have big rooms with good air condition and heating. With tv was problem with Spanish programs but you don't go the to look tv but I like to listen some music. The stay the was so relaxed.

This wasn’t the easiest hotel to find, especially if you’re looking and driving. My satnav didn't recognise the name of the hotel until I found it myself, so go prepared. Unfortunately I was staying alone and although the hotel facilities are good only Spanish, German or French are spoken. The wine waiter whose mother was from Birmingham spoke very good English but 5 minutes conversation once a day is insufficient. I had just returned from a week of sailing with 5 others so the transition was acute. That said, the staff were great and Anna and I communicated in French satisfactorily. My room (15) was very comfortable with a large bathroom and the spa facilities are good, if not exceptional. My massage was interrupted by the ringing of my masseurs which devastated her, but I was in a state of "switch off" and disregarded it. Spending 5 days alone with a number of German couples isn't a good recommendation but if you go half board and have taken a partner with you the relaxed atmosphere and careless needs will recharge the most defunct batteries. It would improve things if a variety of music were available in the rooms, not a lot to ask for in a modern 4* hotel these days.

Room Tip: My room was on the ground floor which gave me a shaded outdoor area in the heat of the day. Those ab...

Just returned from a two night stay with friends at this great retreat. We had two standard rooms facing the pool at the front of the hotel and could not find fault with anything. Thr rooms are large with a balcony, simply furnished and immaculate. A bathroom with shower, bidet etc was again larger than expected and a pleasure to use. The food in the restaurant was to our liking. All four of us were more than happy with the meals served and we were pleasantly surprised by the bill at the end of our stay.
The staff though they speak little English were charming and made us feel most welcome. Most of our fellow guests were German or French.
We would certainly return to this delightful peaceful place where the ambience is oh so relaxing. Great grounds for walks, great pool and spa facilities, great food, great staff, outstanding service, great price.
Can't wait.

Quite unexpectedly, the Son Trobat is one of the most delightful places we have stayed. The renovations and updating have created a charming hotel with fantastic grounds. In addition, the restaurant is top-notch, with great service. Although the Son Trobat is very rural, it is within a 20-30 minute drive of beaches, caves, golf courses, etc., and they have a great swimming pool, spa, and all the amenities. It would be a wonderful place to "cool it" for several days!

Room Tip: There is no elevator; request lower levels!

I booked two deluxe rooms for one night in the height of the holiday season for my family of five. In total I spent £465 for rooms, food, wine, everything. The thing that struck me most was how friendly and helpful the staff were, despite the fact that little English is spoken here (my Spanish is none existent but we got by in French). The hotel was really clean, the rooms were spacious, well furnished and the air-conditioning working its magic for August. The indoor and outdoor pool facilities were also very good and kept the kids busy. The restaurant was very good, (but if you want more upmarket cuisine see my review of Hotel Monnaber) As there we only a couple of other well-behaved families here it should not put anyone from coming here. Its worth stating again, all the staff were excellent, especially Anna.
