We used Sa Torre for the first leg of a nine night holiday in Mallorca staying for 4 nights and using the hotel as a base for touring various beaches dotted around the south and east of the island. The hotel is just what it says, an Agro Tourism converted farm/wine cellar. If you go expecting a lavish 5* chain hotel you will be missing the point. This is friendly home from home accommodation, that said the rooms want for nothing, they are clean, comfortable, smart and a good size. Some days we hardly saw anyone else whenever we were in the ample grounds, it's that peaceful. My, not too early, morning swim was always a completely private affair whichever of the two lovely pools I chose and as we had breakfast before 9:30 am this too was always quiet and private. The simple breakfasts were excellent, fresh breads, meat and cheese with fruit and yoghurt served in the garden, so much better than the pseudo British breakfast at many Mediterranean hotels.
In the evenings the restaurant is fantastic, as most other reviews reveal, be forewarned though that there is no choice, it is a set four course dinner which only changes on a weekly basis. The waiter, one of the wonderful family, assured us that if we wished to eat on more than one occasion then they would change the menu for us and when we put this offer to the test they did exactly that. Son number two, together with his partner, looks after the kitchen and the food is marvellous and innovative as is the choice of wines.
There are 3 small 'local' restaurants in Santa Eugenia and we sampled 2 of them, they act as a perfect foil for the richness and elegance of the hotel restaurant and are excellent value but expect plastic chairs and a roadside table if you are in time to secure an outside spot, don't be put off, these are local bars full of local people and are all the better for being so.
Back to Sa Torre - the whole family and each of their small team of staff are friendly and accommodating and the room rates are very reasonable when weighed against the quality and prices charged in other similar establishments I have reviewed. As for my wife, even though we were moving on to our hitherto favourite beach location she did not want to leave, and that says it all really! Thoroughly recommended.
